Weert Community Mourns Recent Losses

Three beloved residents remembered through heartfelt tributes and memorials.

Recent obituaries from Weert have brought to light the lives of three beloved individuals who recently passed away, each remembered fondly by their families and the community.

The first is Lies Houben-Jansen, who left this world on February 5, 2025. Renowned for her warmth, Lies was loved deeply by her family, including her husband Henk and their children, Liesbeth, Daan, Janne, Thijs, and Loek. Her family expressed heartfelt gratitude for all she meant to them and noted her peaceful passing after losing herself for some time. They stated, 'Dankbaar voor alles wat jij voor ons hebt betekend en na een tijd waarin jij steeds meer van jezelf verloor, zijn wij blij dat je rustig bent ingeslapen.' The farewell for Lies will take place at Sint-Matthiaskerk, followed by her interment at the H. Matthias cemetery nearby.

The family warmly invites everyone to join them on Wednesday, February 12, at 11:00 AM for the service, and they have established correspondence at Herenstraat 223, 6004 XJ Weert for those wishing to extend condolences.

Next is Pier Aendekerk, affectionately known as 'Pier vanne Waal,' who also passed away on February 5, 2025. His family remembered him as 'a man full of fun and pleasure, someone who loved to take action and enjoyed beer.' The spirited and humorous personality of Pier is what made him stand apart, and his family implores friends to come to bid their farewells on Sunday, February 9, from 14:00 to 15:00 at the local funeral home. The main service is scheduled for the following Wednesday, February 12, at 14:30 at the crematorium Weerterland.

Pier was known for his love of gladiolas, and instead of flowers, his family requests donations to the Nierstichting, with collection boxes available at the visitation. For those wanting to express their sympathies online, options are provided through the Fading Uitvaartzorg website.

Lastly, we celebrate the life of Lies Jansen – Veugelers, who passed away due to illness on February 2, 2025. A widow of Jan Jansen who departed this life back in 2015, Lies is mourned by her children Anita, Joop, and their families. Grateful for those who lovingly cared for her, the family invites the community to say their goodbyes during the memorial service at crematorium Weerterland on February 10 at 14:30, following which her cremation will take place.

To honor Lies’ wishes, the family encourages guests to contribute to 'Vrienden van Ververshof' rather than bring flowers. A final farewell opportunity will be available to the public on Sunday, February 9, at the funeral home.

These tributes reflect the love and memories shared by families as they navigate the difficult but necessary process of saying goodbye. The sentiment and tribute to contributions each individual made to their loved ones' lives resonate strongly within their respective communities.

Each life celebrated through these obituaries underlines the importance of remembrance and the enduring impact of friendships and family ties. We invite you to reflect upon the legacies left behind by these cherished members of Weert.
