Weather Warnings Issued Across Libya Syria And Yemen

Significant temperature rises and strong winds prompt alerts for residents to prepare for potential hazards.

On April 22, 2025, a series of weather warnings were issued across multiple regions, highlighting significant atmospheric changes that could impact daily life and activities. The National Center for Meteorology has alerted residents along the eastern coast of Libya to prepare for strong winds and turbulent seas. Meanwhile, Syria is experiencing a noticeable rise in temperatures coupled with gusty winds, causing dust storms particularly in the southern and eastern parts of the country.

The National Center for Meteorology in Libya reported that southern westerly winds, shifting to northern westerly, are expected to bring wind speeds ranging between 25 and 35 knots. The sea conditions are predicted to be rough, with wave heights reaching up to 3.5 meters along the coast from Khoms to Sirte. Additionally, the sky is expected to be partly cloudy, with temperatures ranging from 16 to 19 degrees Celsius. The center advised fishermen and coastal residents to exercise caution due to the challenging conditions.

In the regions from Ras Jedir to Sirte, the forecast indicates a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of scattered rain. The winds will initially be northwesterly, then shift direction by morning. The wave heights here are also expected to be significant, reaching between 0.50 and 2.50 meters, with some areas experiencing even higher waves.

Further east, from Ras Lanuf to Tobruk, the weather is similarly unstable, with gusty winds and scattered clouds. The sea is expected to be turbulent, and temperatures will remain consistent with those in the west, between 16 and 19 degrees Celsius. Visibility is anticipated to be moderate due to the rough sea conditions.

In Syria, the situation is markedly different, as the country is experiencing a significant rise in temperatures. The weather is generally sunny and stable, but strong westerly winds are causing dust and dirt to stir up, particularly in the southern regions and parts of the eastern Damascus countryside. Wind speeds are reaching between 50 and 60 kilometers per hour, leading to dusty and hazy conditions.

As the night approaches, the weather is expected to remain stable, with no significant occurrences of frost or fog reported across various regions. This stability is a relief for residents who have been dealing with fluctuating weather patterns in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, the Center for Atmospheric Forecasts and Early Warning in Yemen has also released a weather bulletin warning of atmospheric changes that may affect large areas of the country. The forecast indicates that mountainous regions will experience relatively cool temperatures at night, with a chance of fog formation. During the day, the weather in these areas is expected to be hot and dry.

In the desert and coastal areas, the weather is anticipated to be hot and humid, with light to moderate winds. The coastal regions will experience humid and warm conditions, with occasional stronger winds along the western coasts and Bab al-Mandab. The expected maximum and minimum temperatures for various regions in Yemen today include: Aden at 32/28 degrees Celsius, Al Mukalla at 31/25, and Taiz at 30/18.

The forecast warns of the possibility of thunderstorms and heavy rain in some areas, calling on citizens to take necessary precautions to avoid potential hazards associated with these weather conditions. The center specifically cautioned residents in mountainous areas about heavy fog that could reduce visibility and advised against travel in valleys prone to flooding.

As the weather systems continue to develop, authorities across these regions are urging residents to stay informed and prepared for any changes that may arise. The combination of strong winds, high waves, and fluctuating temperatures necessitates a vigilant approach to safety, particularly for those living in coastal and mountainous areas.

In summary, the weather across Libya, Syria, and Yemen is displaying significant variability, with warnings of strong winds and potential thunderstorms. Residents are advised to remain cautious and take necessary precautions to mitigate the risks associated with these atmospheric changes.
