Romania is preparing for notable weather fluctuations as the National Meteorological Administration (ANM) has released its latest forecast covering the period until April 14, 2025. Temperatures are expected to begin lower than usual but will progressively warm, offering Romanians hope for pleasant spring days.
The ANM has reported, "Temperatures will be lower than usual until around March 21, 2025, when highs will reach 20 degrees Celsius." This initial drop suggests cooler weather might linger over the first half of March. Nevertheless, following this period, the weather is expected to improve significantly.
From March 21 onward, forecasts predict, "The weather will be nice, with averages of 16-19 degrees Celsius." This warming trend provides encouragement as many look forward to the arrival of spring after the winter chill.
For the first two weeks of April, fluctuations will be apparent, with ANM stating, "The first two weeks of April 2025 will bring temperature changes, from cooler days with highs of 11-13 degrees Celsius to warmer days with 17-18 degrees Celsius." These swings serve as reminders of the unpredictable nature of spring weather, which often brings both warmth and cooler spells.
Rain, as always, plays its part in the seasonal drama. ANM forecasts periods of rain, stating, "Periods of rain are forecast for March 23-25, 2025, and March 30-31, 2025, in the center, west and northeast, as well as in the mountains." Locally heavy showers may affect outdoor plans, particularly for Easter preparations.
Into April, the weather will continue to bring rain, with predicted occurrences around April 1 across the center, and again on April 5-6 in the west, south, and mountain regions. ANM has noted, "On Florii (Palm Sunday), the weather will be sunny and cloudy with forecast highs between 17 and 19 degrees Celsius," providing some relief and joy for those participating in the traditional festivities.
During the week from March 17-23, 2025, it is expected thermal values will be lower than those specific to this week throughout much of Romania. A significant change, the week from March 24-30 is set to have average temperatures higher than normal, especially noticeable across the northern half of the territory.
By the week of March 31 to April 6, 2025, the ANM has indicated, "The average air temperature will have higher values than normal for this period throughout the country." This trend seems promising for those hoping to see more consistent warm weather as we move through spring.
Lastly, wrapping up the forecast period, investments will be made as well. Temperatures from April 7-14, 2025, will be slightly above normal for this week, with the precipitation amounts expected to be close to the normal levels for this season.
Overall, the forecast paints a picture of variability but also of the potential for comfortable springtime weather following the initial chill of March. With Romanians gearing up for Easter celebrations amid these temperature changes and potential rain, the diligence of the ANM's updates will serve as invaluable resources for planning activities during this transitional period.
