Waseda University has recently announced noteworthy developments involving its faculty members and research collaborations. Among these is the partnership with Polyglots Co., Ltd., aimed at enhancing the capabilities of English learning applications. Led by CEO Shunya Yamaguchi, Polyglots is on a mission to help individuals break language barriers and thrive globally.
To advance their objectives, Polyglots appointed Shigenobu Tanaka, Honorary Professor at Keio University, as an advisor. Tanaka is known for his expertise in applied linguistics and has proposed shifting the focus of English learning from the traditional 'native speaker supremacy' to what he calls 'My English', cultivating individual approaches to English language acquisition.
Tanaka expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Polyglots team, stating, "My English is necessary." He emphasizes the need for personalized learning strategies, asserting, "The important thing is to learn what and how you should study." His insight aligns with Polyglots' vision of providing innovative and personalized learning experiences.
This collaboration will leverage technology to improve individual learning paths, with the aim of making learning enjoyable and habitual. Meanwhile, Waseda University is also making strides in scientific research. Recently, researchers from Keio University's Faculty of Law participated in groundbreaking atmospheric studies on Venus. Team Leader Takanori Miyoshi and Special Researcher Jianyu Liang, along with Professor Norihiko Sugimoto, utilized the Bred Vector energy equation for the first time to reveal new mechanisms affecting the planet's atmosphere.
This innovative research was able to shed light on low-pressure development and energy transition mechanisms within Venus' atmosphere. Miyoshi remarked, "We have discovered mechanisms related to low-pressure development and energy conversion efficiency." The findings have significant potential for applications across various planetary atmospheric studies, enhancing our overall comprehension of atmospheric dynamics.
