Warriors Edge Knicks 97-94, Extend Winning Streak

Stephen Curry shines as Steve Kerr becomes franchise's winningest coach.

The Golden State Warriors secured a narrow victory against the New York Knicks on March 15, 2025, winning 97-94 and marking their seventh consecutive win. This triumph not only boosted the Warriors' playoff positioning but also showcased the remarkable skills of star player Stephen Curry, who scored 28 points, pulled down seven rebounds, and dished out five assists, shooting 8-of-20 from the field.

Curry's impressive performance was complemented by Draymond Green, who contributed nine points, four rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block, as well as Moses Moody, who added 18 points to the scoreboard. The Knicks, facing the challenge of playing without their star guard Jalen Brunson, put forth commendable effort through Karl-Anthony Towns and OG Anunoby, who scored 29 and 23 points, respectively.

The game began with Towns setting the tone, scoring six straight points early, igniting the Knicks' offense and leaving the Warriors scrambling to respond. The teams traded baskets throughout the first quarter, culminating with a brilliant 37-foot shot from Butler to give the Warriors a 32-31 lead heading to the second quarter.

Although the second quarter started slowly with neither team scoring for several minutes, the Warriors tightened their defense and limited the Knicks to just 19 points. Curry then delivered another blow, draining a 28-foot three-pointer to push Golden State’s lead to four at halftime.

Returning from the break, Curry caught fire once again, scoring 12 points quickly within the third quarter. But after his substitution at the 2:58 mark, the Warriors faced challenges over the next minutes without scoring again, yet they still retained a lead of 75-72 before entering the final quarter.

Despite struggles from deep, with Curry going 0-for-4 on three-point attempts during the fourth quarter, his teammates rallied around him. Moody emerged as the hero of the fourth, scoring seven pivotal points to help clinch the game. Draymond’s layup with just 25 seconds left extended the lead, allowing Curry to seal the victory at the free-throw line where he made three clutch shots.

This win improved the Warriors' record to 39-28, putting them firmly within the playoff race as they currently sit sixth place in the competitive Western Conference. Following the game, coach Steve Kerr celebrated another personal feat as he became the all-time winningest coach in franchise history, surpassing Al Attles with his 558th win, achieved during his 11th season at the helm.

The historical significance of this achievement is significant, as Kerr not only reflects on his successful coaching career but also on what he has accomplished with the Warriors since his arrival. Under his leadership, the team has secured multiple championships, revolutionizing their playing style and establishing their identity within the sport.

Curry, having just recently made history himself by becoming the first player to achieve 4,000 three-pointers, continues to push the limits of what is possible on the court.

The Warriors now look forward to hosting Nikola Jokić and the Denver Nuggets on March 17, 2025, aiming to continue their winning streak and solidify their playoff positioning with the end of the regular season approaching. Fans remain hopeful as Curry, Green, and the rest of the roster keep the momentum alive heading toward the postseason, poised for another potential championship run. The buzz around their recent performances gives fans reasons to be excited about the Warriors' future.
