Vorwerk Launches New Thermomix TM7 Amid Customer Outrage

The latest model features exciting updates but faces backlash over transparency and delivery delays.

Vorwerk, the German company known for its innovative kitchen appliances, made headlines on February 14, 2025, with the surprise launch of its latest model, the Thermomix TM7. This announcement thrilled many in the cooking community, who had eagerly awaited updates to the beloved cooking device. However, the suddenness of the TM7's introduction left some customers feeling frustrated, particularly those who had just purchased the previous model, the TM6, for approximately 1,600 Swiss francs.

The TM7 boasts exciting new features, such as personalization options and a 10-inch touchscreen. Yet, the timing of its release has sparked outrage on social media, with many users expressing their disappointment. In a Facebook group dedicated to Thermomix enthusiasts, one user lamented, "We bought our TM6 on January 30. Our consultant didn’t mention that a successor was coming soon. Now we’re stuck with an outdated model that isn’t enjoyable to use anymore. Very disappointing." Another user echoed these sentiments, stating they would have reconsidered their purchase had they known about the new model.

One customer, Manuela Vennemann, shared her regret during an interview with ARD's "Marktcheck." She had purchased her TM6 just this year and was told by her Thermomix consultant that there would not be a new model coming soon. "I feel betrayed," she said, reflecting the sentiments of many unhappy customers.

In response to the backlash, Vorwerk defended its practices. The company stated that all customers who bought a TM6 shortly before the TM7 announcement were actively offered an exchange from the TM6 to the TM7. However, Vennemann reported that no such offer was made to her, leaving her with no option but to order the TM7 for 1,699 Swiss francs.

As the TM7 officially hit the market on April 7, 2025, it was met with a mix of excitement and criticism. Vanessa Schrader from COMPUTER BILD had the opportunity to test the new model and highlighted its sleek design and advanced functionalities. The TM7 features a dark, plissee-like herringbone pattern made from over a third recycled material, and it comes equipped with a larger multi-touch display and enhanced cooking capabilities.

One of the standout features of the TM7 is its ability to manually sear food, a significant upgrade from its predecessor. Additionally, the new model allows for open cooking, which means users can cook at temperatures up to 100 degrees with the lid open, making it easier to add ingredients while cooking.

Schrader praised the TM7, noting, "Cooking spaghetti is now much more comfortable!" The device’s digital twin feature provides real-time updates on what’s happening in the mixing bowl, including temperature, consistency, and fill level, displayed on the 10-inch screen. The Cookidoo recipe portal remains a key component, offering around 100,000 recipes in 20 languages, with new customizable suggestions and the option for users to add personal notes.

Despite the positive reviews, the TM7's launch has not been without challenges. Customers who pre-ordered the TM7 are facing significant delays, with current delivery times stretching up to 23 weeks. Many have expressed frustration over the long wait, particularly those who had hoped to receive their new kitchen gadget sooner. One customer voiced their dissatisfaction on Instagram, saying, "Paying in advance and then waiting 3-4 months for delivery is just unacceptable. If I had known, I wouldn't have ordered it!"

Furthermore, some users have criticized the incompatibility of accessories from older models with the TM7. According to the manufacturer's website, parts like the Varoma steamer insert and the Thermomix Vegetable Styler are not compatible with the new model, which has upset long-time users of the Thermomix.

On the other hand, there are those who appreciate the updated design and functionalities. The TM7's matte black finish has divided opinions, with some users likening it to a "urn" while others welcome the modern aesthetic. The new model is available exclusively online or through representatives, which has also drawn criticism for limiting accessibility.

As the Thermomix TM7 continues to roll out, the overall sentiment among customers appears mixed. While many are excited about the new features and improvements, the issues surrounding transparency and delivery times have cast a shadow over the product launch. With the price tag of 1,549 euros, potential buyers are left to weigh the benefits of upgrading against the frustrations that have accompanied the TM7's release.

The TM7 represents a significant evolution in the Thermomix line, offering a blend of advanced technology and user-friendly design. However, whether it justifies the investment remains a personal decision for each customer. As Vorwerk navigates the challenges of customer expectations and product delivery, the Thermomix TM7 stands as a testament to the ongoing evolution of kitchen technology.
