Vodafone Qatar And QIC Group Set To Shine At Web Summit 2025

Major tech conference aims to position Qatar as a global technology hub and innovation leader.

Doha, Qatar: Vodafone Qatar has announced its participation in the upcoming Web Summit 2025, one of the world’s premier technology conferences. The event will be held from February 23-26, 2025, at the Doha Exhibition & Convention Center (DECC) in Doha, Qatar. This significant gathering brings together thousands of key players from the tech industry, including leaders, entrepreneurs, startups, and investors, all under one roof.

Vodafone Qatar, as a prominent telecommunications provider, remains dedicated to spearheading digital innovation and fostering technological advancements. The company’s presence at the Web Summit Qatar signifies its commitment to maintaining industry leadership and exploring new avenues for growth and collaboration. During the summit, Vodafone Qatar will showcase its latest developments, particularly focusing on 5G technology, Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, and digital transformation tools aimed at enhancing office solutions, unified collaboration, and communication.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with subject-matter experts and gain insights from cutting-edge solutions. These presentations will spotlight how Vodafone Qatar is influencing the future tech environment for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Small Offices/Home Offices (SOHO), and startups. The company plans to present tailor-made solutions geared to support aspiring businesses from their inception to consolidations as successful enterprises.

Highlighting the significance of the Web Summit, H E Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al Thani, Director of the Government Communications Office and Chairman of the Permanent Web Summit Organising Committee, stated, “The Web Summit is considered a global gathering [...] their ideas and projects and build relationships and partnerships.” His remarks underline the summit's importance as a platform for innovators, allowing access to funding and insight necessary for business expansion.

Qatar's hosting of the Web Summit for five years, until 2028, marks the nation as the first country in the Middle East and North Africa to welcome this major global event. Sheikh Jassim articulated, “The goals of the Web Summit align perfectly with the country’s priorities [...] all contribute to enhancing economic sustainability.” This clearly emphasizes how Qatar's objectives are not just about hosting—there’s substantial direction and purpose behind the initiative.

QIC Group has also confirmed its participation at Web Summit 2025 under the theme “The Future of Insurance, Powered by QIC.” Salem Al Mannai, Group CEO of QIC, said, “Being the leading insurer in the MENA region [...] other regional players get ready to navigate consumer behavior change.” His focus on technology's role within the future of insurance showcases the integration of tech advancements within traditional sectors.

QIC aims to nurture disruptive Insurtechs and develop digital ecosystems capable of transforming the industry regionwide. The QIC pavilion at the summit will serve as both showcase and collaborative space, allowing all its units and subsidiaries to present their latest initiatives to the global tech community.

The Web Summit also signifies Qatar's strategic focus on knowledge exchange, innovation, and investment. It positions Qatar as a major hub for technology, inviting global leaders and stakeholders to explore the nation's infrastructure, regulatory environment, and talent pool. With local companies showcasing their innovative projects to investors, the summit plays a pivotal role in the growth of national startups and technological advancements.

According to statistics, last year’s summit saw more than 25,000 participants, with 15 startups funded through the “Start from Qatar” investment program. The event serves as both opportunity and platform for Qatari startups, providing access to investors, markets, and cutting-edge research.

This year, the anticipated participation includes over 200 Qatari startups and roughly 600 investors, marking significant growth from last year. Notably, women-founded businesses will represent 46% of the startups, reflecting inclusivity and diversity within the industry.

With more than 300 prominent speakers and over 150 event partners expected at the summit, the event exemplifies the growing trust individuals and companies have placed within Qatar as a destination for technological innovation and investment. H E Sheikh Jassim concluded, “The previous edition of the summit set several records, and we are confident this year will be even more distinguished and innovative.”
