Vivo And IQOO Speed Ahead With Android 15 FunTouch OS 15

iQOO 12 leads the rollout of the new OS with innovative features and extensive device support

Vivo and its sister brand, iQOO, have swiftly made headlines by releasing their Android 15-based FunTouch OS 15, racing past even tech giants like Google and Samsung. This remarkable feat marks Vivo’s growing prominence within the smartphone industry, as they push updates to their devices well before their larger rivals.

The iQOO 12 has become the first smartphone to receive this highly anticipated update, with rollout commencing across India. Existing users can expect notifications to pop up on their devices urging them to download the latest software. For those who don’t want to wait for the alert, they can manually check for the update by going through the settings under system updates. While the rollout will take some time, by mid-October, most iQOO 12 users should have access to the new features.

The FunTouch OS 15, built on Android 15, introduces innovative functionalities aimed at improving user experience significantly. Expect faster app startup speeds, enhanced memory compression, and the ability to customize local videos as live wallpapers. This OS also brings about more personalizable call backgrounds, allowing users to select photos beyond the standard options. Beyond just aesthetics, fingerprint unlocking and Always-On display features have received new styles, enhancing interaction through its aqua dynamic effects.

AI features have taken center stage with the introduction of tools like AI Photo Enhance for clearer images and Super Documents to guarantee cleaner scanned documents. The software now includes a ‘Memories’ feature, effectively transforming photos and videos shoestringing them together like movies, complete with music tracks and effects. For gamers, the new Ultra Game Mode promises to deliver immersive gaming experiences by optimizing device performance during gameplay.

Vivo has plans to extend this rollout to more models, with the roadmap targeting additional devices. Following the iQOO 12, users of the iQOO 11 can expect updates by mid-November, with models like Vivo X90 and X90 Pro getting their upgrades around the same time.

From late 2024 until early 2025, the subsequent updates will be systematically deployed across remaining eligible phones, including Vivo’s V-series models and select iQOO devices like the Neo 9 Pro and Z9 series. Notably, Vivo has ensured users know which devices are included, with several older models appearing on the list, ensuring customer satisfaction across their diverse product range.

Despite this significant push, it hasn’t been all smooth sailing for Vivo or iQOO. Users of Google Pixel phones, for example, have expressed dissatisfaction at the delayed updates. Traditionally, Google is the first to distribute such updates through its Pixel lineup, making Vivo’s rapid rollout all the more remarkable. While the latest version of Android is available on the Android Open Source Project since early September, the Pixel versions remain pending.

Unquestionably, Vivo’s readiness to launch FunTouch OS 15 highlights their proactive approach to keeping their consumers satisfied. The competitive smartphone market demands such agility, and Vivo’s move could give them the edge against more established brands.

What's especially intriguing is the variety and extent of the features packed within FunTouch OS 15. The direct replacement of Android's Fair Scheduling algorithm with Vivo's own Priority Scheduling model promises to optimize various aspects of the device's performance. Vivo claims this shift translates to about 15 percent faster app load times, providing users with swiftly operating devices.

Overall, it seems the tech race is heating up, with Vivo and iQOO taking strides to be at the forefront, sparking competition to genuinely benefit the users.

This update also showcases Vivo's commitment to innovation. With improved app performance, richer personalization options, and enhanced AI functionalities, FunTouch OS 15 is positioned to not only enrich the user experience but also redefine customer expectations from smartphone software.

With the smartphone market constantly shifting, staying updated with the latest software is no longer just optional but necessary for users to enjoy seamless experiences. The rollout of FunTouch OS 15 demonstrates how deeply manufacturers are investing to keep users engaged with their devices.

So, if you're among those waiting for Android 15 updates on your Pixel device, it might prompt you to reconsider your options and perhaps take a look at what's on offer with Vivo or iQOO. Their proactive approach could very well influence other manufacturers to follow suit, thereby raising the bar for update timelines across the board.

The excitement surrounding the FunTouch OS 15 update will continue as more devices are set to receive it, giving users plenty to look forward to as Vivo and iQOO redefine their positions within the tech arena.
