Vietnam's IT Sector Sees Salaries Soar Amid High Demand

Job market trends indicate strong recruitment growth and rising salaries in Vietnam's tech industry

The demand for IT professionals in Vietnam has surged, with salaries reaching as high as 70 million VND per month, according to a recent report by JobOKO. This report, titled "Job Market Report 2025," surveyed 2,500 recruiters and job seekers and analyzed data from over 650,000 job postings, revealing a vibrant recruitment landscape.

In 2025, around 78% of businesses plan to maintain or increase their hiring compared to the previous year, indicating a strong growth trend in the workforce. Notably, 64% of companies prioritize hiring personnel with 1-3 years of experience, particularly in business-sales (53.2%), marketing-communications (52.3%), and IT software (28.8%). This shift reflects a preference for candidates who can quickly integrate and deliver value without extensive training.

The median salary in the IT software sector is significantly higher than in other fields, with those having 1-3 years of experience earning about 22.5 million VND per month. For professionals with more than three years of experience, the median salary rises to 32.5 million VND, while managerial positions can fetch around 50.7 million VND per month. Some specialized roles, such as Python developers, Android developers, and Backend developers, can command salaries up to 70 million VND per month.

Moreover, the influence of artificial intelligence (AI) has become increasingly prominent in various sectors. The JobOKO report indicates that over 60% of businesses and 86% of surveyed employees believe that AI will enhance business operations and transform organizational structures. Among the 2,000 candidates surveyed, more than 90% expressed a willingness to use AI in their work; however, most are only utilizing it at a basic level, with only 15.6% feeling confident in their proficiency with AI tools.

In addition to domestic trends, Deel, a global payroll and human resources management platform, has released its own report highlighting international recruitment trends, including in Vietnam. This report underscores the growing importance of Vietnam in the global labor market, with a remarkable 111% increase in the recruitment of Vietnamese intellectual workers in foreign markets, particularly in technology sectors.

The United States, the United Kingdom, and Singapore are leading the charge in seeking talent from Vietnam in 2024. Notably, the demand from Singapore has been rising, reflecting strengthened economic and diplomatic ties, especially following the recent visit of Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to Vietnam.

From 2023 to 2024, the demand for Software Engineers remains robust, but there is an increasing emphasis on roles such as Quality Assurance (QA) and Game Developers, which are gradually replacing positions like Translators and Statisticians that were more in demand last year. Additionally, many Vietnamese companies are enhancing their international recruitment strategies, focusing on positions like Software Engineers, Graphic Designers, and Antifraud Analysts.

According to Karen Ng, Country Director and Head of Market Development for Asia at Deel, "Vietnam is becoming one of the fastest-growing economies in the region, with a highly skilled workforce increasingly recognized by international businesses. The recruitment trends in this year's report not only reflect Vietnam's strong market potential but also highlight the significant contributions of Vietnamese talent to the development of technology, gaming, and finance sectors globally. We are witnessing a growing demand for Vietnamese talent from international companies, while domestic firms are also actively expanding their search for global personnel. These trends indicate that Vietnam is gradually asserting its important role in the international labor market."

Furthermore, the report from Deel reveals global recruitment trends, noting that while Software Engineers remain the most sought-after professionals, there is a notable increase in demand for accountants, with a 74% rise in recruitment rates over the past year and a 15% increase in salaries. This surge is attributed to tighter tax regulations on international labor and a decline in younger professionals entering the field, making accounting one of the highest-demand sectors globally.

Additionally, Generation Z is emerging as a priority group for global employers. In 2024, Gen Z has seen the fastest salary growth (9%) compared to other generations and the lowest rates of involuntary contract termination (36%). Their superior tech skills and eagerness to learn have made them valuable assets to businesses worldwide. Alice Burks, Director of Human Resources Development at Deel, stated, "Growing up in the digital age, Generation Z is not only tech-savvy but also prioritizes the meaning of work over salary, seeking personalized career paths and opportunities for professional development. To attract and retain this workforce, companies need to create flexible working environments and invest in training and advancement pathways."

With operations in over 150 countries, Deel continues to provide solutions that support businesses in expanding their global recruitment efforts effectively. By ensuring compliance with local regulations, automating payroll processes, and offering on-the-ground consulting support, Deel helps both domestic and international companies access top talent in Vietnam and around the world while adhering to local labor laws.
