Entertainment firmly remained the predominant theme for searches, sustaining its lead with just a slight growth of 2% from the previous year. The report highlights how the entertainment sector has blossomed, stimulating increased viewer engagement around reality shows, concerts, and Vietnamese dramas. Programs such as "Anh Trai Vượt Ngàn Chông Gai" garnered massive interest, not only on television but also translated to sold-out concert shows, emphasizing the strong foothold entertainment holds within Vietnamese culture.
Notably, expressions associated with popular culture, such as MCK's catchphrase "ai sợ thì đi về" and NSND Tự Long's "đỉnh nóc kịch trần bay phấp phới," also trended alongside numerous characters from Chinese novels, reflecting the cultural nuances affecting user searches.
The technological domain shone brightly as the leading theme for growth, marking a whopping 22% increase. Of significant importance is the rise of searches related to biometric authentication, which surged by 957%, especially after newly enacted communication security policies such as the banking sector's biometrics mandate. This step is seen as monumental for enhancing online security and trust among users seeking to navigate the digital space safely.

The popularity of online tools and applications also affirmed their presence, with platforms like "Canva," "TikTok," and "Scratch" making waves among users.
Among the quarter's intriguing events was the devastating "bão Yagi." This natural disaster not only captivated attention but also increased the frequency of searches related to flood assessments and volunteer efforts, as keywords like "sao kê" and "lũ quét" surged by 368% and 114%, respectively. Such disasters underlined user empathy and drove collective search behavior linked to humanitarian concerns.
On the political front, expressions of interest peaked around the "U.S. elections," which saw growth rates of 3,675% compared to the previous year, indicating heightened awareness among Vietnamese users of international political dynamics. The passing of former General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng stirred emotion and recollection, with continuous search activity around phrases like "Tổng Bí thư Nguyễn Phú Trọng từ trần," reflecting public respect and mourning toward the late political figure.
Financially, 2024 marked record-breaking movements with gold prices reaching 90 million VND per tael, boosting searches under the theme "Giá vàng hôm nay," which emerged as the hottest finance-focused search term with considerable growth of 147%. New entries concerning the 2024 Land Law also contributed to the trending topics, indicating user engagement with legal developments affecting real estate.
The report from Cốc Cốc also outlined interests across five additional themes: sports, vehicles, e-commerce, travel, and employment. The varying behaviors surrounding website visits revealed users leaning heavily toward social media, with figures showing 27.4% of traffic directed at social networking, 23% for videos, and 15.4% for working purposes, presenting innovative insights on popular browsing habits and activities.
