Vietnamese Tourism Trends Shine For Tet Nguyen Dan 2025

A surge of travel interest reveals Gen Z's unique habits and technology use during the festive period.

Vietnamese tourism is experiencing notable transformations, particularly as the Tet Nguyen Dan 2025 holiday approaches. Insights shared by The Outbox Company reveal high levels of interest among Vietnamese travelers for both domestic and international trips during this festive season.

According to the company, 94% of Vietnamese participants expressed their enthusiasm for traveling within the country, with welcoming places like Da Nang, Ha Giang, and Hanoi topping the list of local hotspots. Meanwhile, plans for international travel are also substantial, as 97% of respondents were eager to explore overseas destinations. Among the favored countries are China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Thailand.

Interestingly, the travel trends are significantly shaped by the younger generation, particularly Gen Z. This cohort’s preferences reflect their desire for personalized experiences, preferring to utilize technology to plan their travels. According to Booking.com, 51% of Vietnamese Gen Z travelers reported feeling comfortable relying on technology to create unforgettable travel experiences.

With the evolution of technology, Gen Z is increasingly leaning on digital tools to facilitate their journeys—from AI-driven itineraries to social media for inspiration. This age group is much more inclined to travel with family, with 64% preferring to experience trips alongside relatives, facilitating closer bonds during the holiday season.

Although domestic trips offer the allure of cultural richness, it’s evident from the report data by The Outbox Company, which states, "On January 20, The Outbox Company released the report detailing the travel readiness of Vietnamese tourists for the Tet 2025 holiday," underscoring the depth of travel interest as Tet approaches.

Travel behavior also reveals distinct patterns when it concerns logistics. For domestic tourism, where spontaneity reigns, trips are often organized last minute—classified as flexible travel plans. Conversely, the trend for international destinations guides travelers toward package tours, with 44% preferring structured itineraries loaded with sufficient planning needs. This inclination impacts their readiness to prepare necessary travel documentation, like visas and adhering to international regulations.

During Tet, the average domestic trip duration lasts around 3-4 nights, primarily focused on familial and traditional gatherings. Meanwhile, international journeys promise lengthier experiences, averaging around 5-6 nights as travelers explore foreign cultures.

Spending behavior also showcases growing interest among Vietnamese tourists. The reported average cost of domestic trips is 13,891,790 VND, whereas the international counterpart peaks at 36,953,431 VND—a clear indication of higher spending power allocated toward overseas adventures. The increase is notable, reflecting an overall 58% jump in travel expenses compared to Tet 2024, encouraging many to invest more for enriching travel experiences.

While the essence of Tet accentuates traveling with family, solo trips are yielding lesser interest. For domestic travels, data indicate minimal preference for solo ventures, as family gathers are frequently preferred. Overall, this festive travel season encapsulates not just joy, but also empowerment through experience, with travelers seeking meaningful connections.

This Tet Nguyen Dan 2025, as Vietnamese tourists plan their escapes with modern technology and new trends, it is evident how cultural pride, family bonds, and improved travel spending behaviors play significant roles. The shifting tourism behaviors highlight the need for providers to stay attuned to these preferences, ensuring the travel experience is more enriching than ever.

With the possibilities of travel heightened during this significant holiday, Vietnamese tourists are on the cusp of exploration, improvising and discovering their way through the cultural essence of both domestic and international settings.
