Vietnamese Publisher Launches New Historical And AI Books

Three significant historical titles explore Vietnam's past, alongside two key AI resources for modern challenges.

At the beginning of the new year, Nhà xuất bản Thông tin và Truyền thông has unveiled three monumental historical books, emphasizing the events from 1946 to 1954. These works include "Các văn kiện giữa Chính phủ Pháp và Chính quyền Bảo Đại," "Đông Dương cuộc chiến tiền tệ 1946-1954," and "Việt Nam hồi ức từ chiến trường 1946-1954," each shedding light on Vietnam's tumultuous past.

The first of these, "Các văn kiện giữa Chính phủ Pháp và Chính quyền Bảo Đại" (Documents Between the French Government and the Bảo Đại Government), is part of the publisher's 'Điện Biên Phủ' collection. This book compiles significant agreements made between the French government and Bảo Đại’s administration—essentially functioning as tools for reinstatement of colonial governance post-1945. It reflects historical negotiations to establish a puppet regime aimed at regaining dominance over Vietnam after the war.

Drifting back to 1949, significant steps were taken toward Vietnam's independence. Following the Declaration of Joint at Hạ Long Bay (1948), key agreements were drawn up, including the Pháp-Việt Treaty signed on March 8, 1949, at the Élysée Palace. The documents reveal various treaties and commitments aimed at clarifying Vietnamese independence within the framework of the French Union. The publisher worked collaboratively with Trường Phương Development Investment Corporation to make these documents accessible, enhancing the public's comprehension of sovereignty transfer. According to the author Jaques Despuech, "Đông Dương cuộc chiến tiền tệ 1946-1954" serves as a reminder of the war's ruinous costs, intertwining politics, money, and devastation, emphasizing how both blood and finance became tools of conflict.

Despuech’s book pulls readers through harsh realities of the time, exposing hidden truths behind dubious financial transactions. It advocates for awareness of the costs of war, demonstrating how conflicts were not merely confrontations but sophisticated productions involving currency and politics. The intention is to highlight the urgent need to end senseless wars and cherish the values of peace and truth.

The third historical title, "Việt Nam hồi ức từ chiến trường 1946-1954" (Vietnam Memories from the Battlefield 1946-1954), transports readers to the heart of the Indochina War, elaborately detailing not only brutal clashes but also the lesser-known tribulations faced by soldiers, including equipment shortages and mental fatigue. Rich with battlefield imagery, this book serves as invaluable documentation of this challenging period of Vietnamese and Indochinese history.

Shifting gears, Nhà xuất bản Thông tin và Truyền thông has also debuted two insightful volumes on artificial intelligence (AI)—critical for anyone wishing to grasp the next phase of tech evolution and its transformative impact. These include “Bí kíp sinh tồn trong thời đại AI - Kinh nghiệm được đúc rút từ những thành công và thất bại” (Survival Kit for the AI Era: Lessons Learned from Successes and Failures) by author Sol Rashidi, and “AI tạo sinh: 100+ ứng dụng thay đổi xã hội - doanh nghiệp” (Generative AI: 100+ Applications Changing Society and Business) by Bernard Marr.

Rashidi’s examination emphasizes AI’s role as a cornerstone of the fourth industrial revolution, contributing to significant leaps in productivity and national competitiveness. Her work offers personal anecdotes and insights from her own AI projects, demonstrating firsthand how businesses can leverage AI to revolutionize operations. She emphasizes the importance of human factors and mindsets during AI implementation. "Trong bối cảnh cuộc đua về AI sẽ diễn ra ngày càng mạnh mẽ, việc áp dụng AI trong kinh doanh mang đến cơ hội và tiềm năng cách mạng hóa..." (With the growing competition around AI, business applications present opportunities to revolutionize...) said Rashidi, bringing to light the challenges and potential pitfalls of AI integration.

On the other hand, Bernard Marr's “AI tạo sinh” clarifies the fundamentals of Generative AI, which allows machines to produce new content without human input, thereby differentiates it from other AI types. Marr elaborates on how this technology can develop applications such as chatbots and content generation tools aimed at enhancing social and business functions, making it indispensable for tech enthusiasts and professionals alike.

Both works revolutionize the narrative surrounding AI, mapping out the potential benefits as well as extending current discussions on the implication of technology in shaping society. Overall, this introduction of significant publications by Nhà xuất bản Thông tin và Truyền thông not only enhances the historical narrative of Vietnam but also prepares readers for the advancing technological narrative. The discussions surrounding these texts encourage explorers to engage with new insights shaped by Vietnam's historical struggles and the innovative world of AI.
