Vietnamese Government Addresses Public Queries Responsively

Government agencies respond to citizen concerns over contracts and safety of citizens abroad.

The Vietnamese government is actively addressing public inquiries and concerns through various departments, demonstrating its commitment to transparency and responsiveness. Key responses have emerged from the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and local law enforcement, highlighting the government's multi-faceted approach to handling requests from citizens.

Recently, the Investigation Police Department of Sơn Tây received concerns expressed by Bùi Văn Minh, the director of Hùng Trường Construction and Investment Company. On January 14, 2025, the department was tasked with clarifying issues surrounding the business contract between Hùng Trường and Linh Anh Resort Investment and Development Company. This inquiry was based on correspondence received from the Vietnam Lawyer Magazine, reflecting public concerns about the integrity of business dealings and the need for transparency.

Upon reviewing Minh's request, the Sơn Tây police noted similarities with another inquiry registered on December 17, 2024, which had already been resolved. The department informed Minh and the magazine, asserting there were no new developments to warrant another investigation at this time. This swift procedural response is indicative of the police's effort to manage public concerns efficiently and effectively.

Similarly, the Ministry of National Defense received inquiries from citizens of Thái Nguyên and Khánh Hòa provinces. Local residents urged the ministry to enact concrete plans to implement housing policies for military personnel, aligning with the Housing Law and amendments made to the Law on Military Officers. The citizens also proposed financial support policies, including housing allowances integrated within monthly salaries or one-time assistance for retired military members who have not benefited from existing programs.

Responding to these inquiries, the Ministry of National Defense outlined its steps forward. They have assigned the General Department of Logistics and Techniques to compile housing needs for military personnel and have aimed to synchronize this data with local government plans. The Ministry reported this initiative is expected to commence early in the first quarter of 2025, demonstrating proactive measures to meet citizens' needs.

Alongside these measures, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is addressing urgent concerns about Vietnamese citizens targeted by scam groups abroad. During the regular press briefing on February 27, 2025, spokesperson Phạm Thu Hằng acknowledged the ministry's collaboration with the Ministry of Public Security to address this issue. She confirmed they are working closely with Vietnamese representatives in both Thailand and Myanmar to verify the identities of Vietnamese citizens recovered from criminal syndicates, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Hằng emphasized the ministry's commitment to monitoring the situation, highlighting efforts to provide timely assistance to any Vietnamese nationals affected by the scams. "We are coordinating with the Ministry of Public Security to handle this matter. The goal is to work with our diplomatic missions to thoroughly confirm information about Vietnamese citizens and swiftly implement necessary measures for their protection and support," Hằng noted.

The collective actions and commitments made by the Vietnamese government reflect its dedication to transparency, effectiveness, and the well-being of its citizens. By addressing public inquiries and implementing thorough responses, these government bodies affirm their role as protectors and facilitators of public interests. The path forward involves continued engagement with the public and safeguarding citizen welfare through appropriate legislation and responsive action.

It is evident from these initiatives and inquiries how the government understands the importance of responsive governance. Solutions being developed within sectors like housing for armed forces personnel and assistance for Vietnamese citizens abroad showcase the complexity and dedication of the government’s public service. This approach serves as valuable groundwork for ensuring citizens feel heard and valued, which is imperative for fostering trust and confidence between the government and the public.
