The Vietnam National Defense Exhibition 2024 concluded on December 23, showcasing the country's advancements and capabilities in defense technology and military preparedness. This significant event celebrated both the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the All-People's Defense Festival, establishing its importance within the broader scope of national defense.
Held from December 19 to December 23, the exhibition attracted considerable attention, with over 260,000 visitors over its duration, as noted by Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of National Defense and Head of the exhibition's organizing committee. "The exhibition was conducted successfully and ensured absolute security and safety across all aspects," stated General Chien during the closing conference held on December 22.
The event witnessed various departments of the General Department of Defense Industry and Viettel signing 16 contracts totaling approximately $286.3 million. This fine achievement not only demonstrates Vietnam's commitment to enhancing its defense capabilities but also highlights the nation's growing collaborations with established industries from countries like the United States, India, France, and Belgium, with 17 strategic cooperation agreements being finalized during the exhibition.
General Chien expressed gratitude to the various organizations and agencies for their thorough preparations, emphasizing the organizational excellence displayed throughout the event. "We successfully spread the prestige and position of the Vietnam People's Army and the country through this event, which is significant amid the 80th anniversary celebrations of our military," he remarked.
To accommodate public interest, some interactive displays, particularly those by Viettel showcasing advancements like artificial intelligence technology and shooting simulations, were extended beyond their initial schedule. Areas dedicated to the achievements of the Armed Forces and the cultural space representing Vietnam were also well-received, contributing to the exhibition's positive impression on both domestic and international attendees.
Significantly, the Vietnam Military History Museum reported hosting 47,000 visitors on peak days, reflecting the public's enthusiasm. Generous provisions, such as over 60,000 free water bottles and emergency rations for attendees, were also donated by the organizers to facilitate visitors' experience.
Over 8,000 articles were published covering the exhibition, with around 200 journalists reporting from across the globe. General Chien noted the effective communications strategy adapted by the organizing committee, which extended visibility not just through traditional media but on social networks as well, ensuring the event's success in engaging audiences beyond the venue.
Moving forward, the Ministry of National Defense has pledged to evaluate the recognition of the excellent contributions made by individuals and agencies involved to uphold fairness and compliance with regulations. General Chien reiterated the need to continue celebrating the strides made by the Vietnam People's Army and to capitalize on international partnerships developed during events like these.
The Vietnam National Defense Exhibition 2024 has not only been pivotal in showcasing military achievements but also represented Vietnam's desire to strengthen defense collaborations globally. This aligns with strategic objectives aimed at promoting national sovereignty, peace, and regional stability.
