Vicky Pattison Reveals Chaotic Celebrity Gogglebox Experience

Amid a scorching heatwave and candid friendship tales, Celebrity Gogglebox’s latest season mixes star-studded lineups with viewer reactions

Celebrity Gogglebox returned to Channel 4 on the evening of Friday, June 27, 2025, with a star-studded lineup and plenty of behind-the-scenes stories to share. Among the fresh faces and familiar favourites, Vicky Pattison and Pete Wicks stood out not just for their commentary, but for the candid insights they offered about their experience filming the show amid an intense heatwave.

Vicky Pattison, best known from Geordie Shore, and Pete Wicks, a long-time friend of hers, debuted on Celebrity Gogglebox this year, securing four episodes in the series. Their friendship spans 15 years, but as Vicky revealed on the recent episode of the Get A Grip podcast with co-host Angela Scanlon, their dynamic on set was anything but calm. She described their relationship as "chaotic" in the early days of filming, explaining how their fast-paced friendship often involved spontaneous plans to grab a drink or have a wild night out after shooting. Interestingly, she noted that despite their long history, they had never actually watched TV together before joining the show.

Adding a humorous twist, Vicky recounted the challenge of filming during a scorching heatwave in the week of June 23-29, 2025. Temperatures soared to 40 degrees Celsius in her front room, which made filming a sweaty ordeal. "God knows how, but yeah, we're done. It's in the bag. Last one is this week so make sure you tune in. I can't promise any feminist rants. I was sweating me t**s off," she joked. She further lamented her choice of clothing, admitting she made the "foolish mistake" of wearing grey, which only intensified the discomfort. The phrase "swamp gusset galore" became a running joke, with Angela sharing that a mum at her child’s school had picked up the expression from Vicky herself.

The June 27 episode also featured an eclectic mix of celebrity pairings, showcasing a broad spectrum of personalities and backgrounds. Georgia Tennant made her first appearance on Celebrity Gogglebox, paired with broadcaster and author Fearne Cotton. The duo's lighthearted banter included a discussion about snacks, where Fearne suggested crisps only to discover Georgia doesn't like potatoes, leading to a quick change in their snack plans.

Other notable duos included BBC Radio DJ Sara Cox and her podcast co-host Clare Hamilton, father and son Larry and George Lamb, comedian Munya Chawawa with Made in Chelsea’s Jamie Laing, and the ever-popular pairing of Vernon Kay and Top Gear’s Paddy McGuinness. The lineup was rounded out by Last One Laughing’s Joe Wilkinson and Roisin Conaty, broadcaster Clare Balding with her wife Alice Arnold, Stephen Mangan alongside his sister Anita, and comedy legends Jennifer Saunders and Ade Edmondson. Diversity dancers Perri Kiely and Jordan Banjo, along with BBC Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw and his niece Liv, also joined the starry roster.

Season 7 of Celebrity Gogglebox has been a mix of returning favourites and fresh faces. Longtime cast members like Rylan Clark and his mum Linda continued to provide their unique brand of humour, while James and Clair Buckley, known for James’s role as Jay in The Inbetweeners, brought their family dynamic to the screen. Pop star Jess Glynne and retired footballer Alex Scott, who has since become a familiar face in sports media, also featured prominently. Shaun Ryder and Bez from Happy Mondays, Paralympic legend Ellie Simmonds with her friend Richie Anderson, and comedy duo Babatunde Aleshe and Mo Gilligan added to the diverse mix of voices and perspectives.

The show, which airs on Channel 4 and streams via its on-demand service, continues to captivate audiences by blending celebrity culture with the relatable format of watching television together. However, not all viewers have embraced the celebrity edition. Some expressed disappointment on social media, lamenting the shift away from the original family and friend groups that made the show a hit. Comments ranged from frustration at the presence of celebrities to a preference for the traditional format, with one viewer stating, "We watch normal #Gogglebox because it's hilarious and we love all the families. #celebritygogglebox is not funny and we couldn't care less about the celebs. It's just people watching telly."

Despite the mixed reactions, others have praised the celebrity series for its entertainment value. One enthusiastic fan described the Eubanks, who have appeared in recent episodes, as "TV gold," highlighting the appeal of the show’s evolving cast.

As the latest season unfolds, viewers can expect more candid moments, unexpected friendships, and, of course, plenty of television commentary. Celebrity Gogglebox remains a unique blend of reality TV, comedy, and social observation, offering a window into how celebrities unwind and react to the week’s programming. Whether you’re tuning in for the banter, the personalities, or the shared experience of watching TV, the show continues to carve out its place in the British entertainment landscape.
