Vancouver AMBER Alert For Missing Child Theodore Lim Cancelled

Two-year-old boy found safe; investigation continues by Vancouver police

An AMBER Alert issued for two-year-old Theodore Lim, who was reported missing from Vancouver, has been canceled following the announcement of his safe recovery. The alert was first raised on March 13, 2025, when police reported the child had been abducted by his father and was believed to be "in imminent danger."

According to Vancouver police, the child was located safely shortly before 3 p.m. the same day. The alert had indicated concerns over Theodore’s medical condition, which requires reliance on a ventilator. When police issued the alert, it was stated he may go into medical distress as he was without part of the ventilator apparatus. “Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances around today’s incident,” the VPD indicated via social media update.

The police said the boy was believed to be with his father, Davis Lim, and two siblings. They were last seen heading west on foot from East Vancouver around 10:40 a.m. According to initial reports, witnesses noted seeing them running west on Broadway from Kaslo Street.

Identified as being about two feet tall and weighing 35 pounds, Theodore was last seen wearing a grey striped t-shirt, grey pants, and black shoes with white soles. His father, who is described as being around 5'9” tall and weighing 150 pounds, had short black hair and was last seen wearing green clothing. Davis Lim is also believed to have access to two vehicles, including a black 2010 BMW X5 and a blue 2006 Volkswagen Jetta.

Vancouver police initially expressed urgent concerns for Theodore, noting his medical needs as a reason for the immediate issuance of the AMBER Alert. The boy’s situation underscored the acute risks facing him due to his medical condition, heightening the urgency of locating him as quickly as possible.

The AMBER Alert serves as a notification tool primarily for child abductions. Its issuance is meant to gather public assistance quickly, spreading awareness of the missing child’s details and the circumstances of their disappearance. Following the alert's cancellation, many residents expressed relief at the news of Theodore's safety.

The closure of the AMBER Alert did not, but marked the beginning of the investigative efforts by law enforcement to understand the full circumstances involved. Reports confirmed the police are closely investigating the dynamics surrounding Theodore's abduction and any potential risks associated with his returning home in the future.

Police have requested anyone who may have encountered the family during the incident or has additional information to come forward and assist with their inquiries. The investigation remains active as police attempt to piece together all relevant information and circumstances to understand how the situation unfolded.

Police are also ensuring family members and caregivers are positioned to address any other needs the child may have due to his medical condition, ensuring support and safety will be available moving forward.

AMBER Alerts are part of community safety initiatives aimed at protecting vulnerable children and raising awareness about potential threats to their well-being. Residents are reminded to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or information to authorities.

This situation, thankfully resolved with Theodore's safe return, acts as a reminder of the strong community response and the role of effective communication among authorities and the public during emergencies. The Vancouver Police Department continues to work with families and community members to build trust and safety for all children within the community.
