The Valencia Fallas 2025 kicked off with great enthusiasm as the Falleres Majores, Lucía and Berta, welcomed the festivities from the historical Torres de Serranos. This iconic moment marked the official start of the numerous events planned for this year’s celebration, which promises to encapsulate the vibrant spirit of Valencia.
Early risers on this joyful day began at dawn, as the Falleras Majores along with their honorary courts initiated the traditional Macrodespertà. Starting at 6:15 AM, they distributed tro de bac from Pirotecnia Alto Palancia, engaging over 2,200 participants eager for the fireworks display.
Shortly after, at 7:15 AM, the Macrodespertà Infantil commenced from the Plaza de la Reina, attracting over 1,500 children dressed festively. The excitement culminated at 8 AM at the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, where the first mascletà was triggered, signaling the warm welcome of the festivities.
Despite the morning rain, which caused some concern among participants and enthusiasts alike, the event enjoyed immense community support with the Junta Central Fallera preparing to host breakfast for everyone involved following the Macrodespertà. This gesture provided nourishment and strength for those who actively participated.
At 11:15 AM, the XXI Entrada de Bandas was scheduled to begin, continuing the rich cultural tradition established since 2004. Bands from across the region gathered to showcase their music, leading to collaborative performances reminiscent of Valencia’s musical heritage.
The event featured several musical groups, including the Colla de Tabal y Dolçaina from the Junta Central Fallera, the Asociacion Musical La Torre, and many more local bands. This year, the exciting narrative also included the homage to the centenary of the pasodoble “Valencia” by maestro José Padilla, performed prior to the traditional piece, “El Fallero.”
Outside of Valencia’s main events, the Consorcio de Bomberos was deployed with over 70 personnel to oversee safety during the simultaneous mascletà held across eight municipalities, thereby ensuring the well-being of attendees and participants alike.
Also noteworthy was the initiative from the Generalitat to make the Fallas accessible to all residents through the “Mascletà per a tots” program. The program offered free tickets for locals to experience the celebratory atmosphere of the mascletà from the prestigious Palacio de Comunicaciones.
From March 1 to 18, locals had the opportunity to enter the daily lottery for attending these notable events, fostering community engagement. The program is especially notable this year, as it opens its doors to residents impacted by adverse weather conditions during previous months.
The excitement of the Fallas 2025 event doesn’t just lie within its fireworks and musical presentations. It also brings forth the embodiment of local culture, showcasing traditional performances during the Crida which started later on the same day at 7 PM, from the same historical location of the Torres de Serranos.
Today’s celebration is just the beginning as the Fallas promise to enchant the city throughout the next month. The variety of activities culminate with the monumental “Ofrenda de Flores” and the majestic fireworks display, leaving citizens and visitors with memories of jubilant celebrations.
With parades, musical bands, and the vibrant community spirit, the essence of Valencia is palpable. The Fallas festival not only celebrates craft and artistic expression but also emphasizes the unity and resilience of the Valencian community as they commemorate their rich traditions through these moments of joy and festivity.
Valencia Fallas 2025 has undoubtedly made its mark, and as festivities continue, it captures the heart of the city, inviting all to join and celebrate their cultural heritage together.
