Uzès Festival Showcases Diverse Talent With One-Man Shows

From humor to serious themes, the festival promises engaging performances from renowned artists.

The Uzès 'Seuls en scène' festival is set to showcase a remarkable lineup of performances from May 7 to May 10, 2025, featuring a diverse array of artists who will bring laughter, emotion, and thought-provoking themes to the stage. This festival, known for its focus on one-person shows, promises to captivate audiences with its unique blend of humor and poignant storytelling.

Opening the festival on Wednesday, May 7, at 9 PM is Nora Hamzawi, a comedian and actress well-known for her engaging stand-up routines. "She has a gift for stand-up. She is current and addresses societal themes," noted Patrick Timsit, the festival's artistic director. Hamzawi, recognized for her appearances on the show 'Quotidien', will present her new one-woman show, setting the tone for a festival filled with compelling narratives.

The following day, Thursday, May 8, will feature a powerful lineup starting with Andréa Bescond at 3 PM. Bescond will perform 'Les chatouilles', a show that tackles the sensitive subject of pedophilia with a touch of humor. "I saw the show before the film released in 2018, and it is remarkable. We laugh while addressing dramatic issues, but with humor. We are in strong and pure emotion; it is our vocation to provide that," she remarked, highlighting the dual nature of her performance.

Later on May 8, at 6 PM, Constance will take the stage with her show 'InConstance', where she candidly shares her experiences with burnout and depression. This performance, currently being showcased at the Comédie de Paris and on tour across France, promises to resonate deeply with audiences. Then, at 9 PM, Alex Vizorek will present a medley of his shows, created specifically for the festival. "It corresponds to all audiences; it's the same spirit as for the comedy club," he said, ensuring that there’s something for everyone.

Friday, May 9, will kick off with Coline Serreau at 11 AM, presenting 'Sa belle histoire', a reflective piece about her artistic journey. Patrick Timsit expressed his admiration for Serreau, stating, "An important artist whom I have cherished since I acted in 'La Crise' alongside Vincent Lindon. A woman who changed my life; it’s a film orchestra." Later that day, at 6 PM, Thierry Lhermitte will return for a carte blanche performance, a new feature of the festival that allows him the freedom to explore his creativity. The day will conclude with Marine Léonardi’s debut show 'Mauvaise graine', which is already sold out, showcasing the high demand for this festival.

The festival will wrap up on Saturday, May 10, starting with a masterclass by Patrice Leconte at 11 AM. Leconte, a renowned filmmaker, will share his insights and experiences, providing an invaluable opportunity for aspiring artists. Later that evening, Manu Payet will perform at 7 PM, bringing his unique comedic style to the festival. Payet, known for his current success with 'Emmanuel 2', will share stories from his childhood on his native island of La Réunion, exploring themes of age through humor and irony.

Finally, the festival will culminate with a musical performance by Michel Jonasz at 9 PM, accompanied by pianist and composer Jean-Yves d’Angelo. Jonasz, celebrated for his timeless hits like 'Super Nana' and 'La boîte de jazz', will offer an intimate concert experience that is sure to enchant attendees. This format promises to captivate audiences, providing a fitting conclusion to the festival.

As the festival approaches, excitement is building, with many anticipating the blend of humor and serious themes presented by the artists. Oldelaf, a fan of Patrick Timsit, expressed his enthusiasm for the festival, remarking, "I am a fan, fan of Patrick Timsit. I am a fan since I know the guest." He humorously noted the challenges of organizing such an event, especially ensuring that all performers are well taken care of, stating, "It’s always a hassle to organize a festival in a city, but with Patrick, it’s top-notch."
