UPSC Declares Civil Services Exam Final Result 2025

Shakti Dubey tops the exam, with over 1,000 candidates selected for various services.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially declared the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) Final Result 2025 on April 22, 2025, marking the culmination of a rigorous selection process that began with the Prelims in June 2024 and included the Mains and the Personality Test. This year, a total of 1,056 vacancies will be filled across prestigious services, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS).

Over 13 lakh candidates participated in the Prelims held on June 16, 2024, but only a select few advanced through the Mains, which took place from September 20 to 29, 2024, and the Interview round, which concluded on April 17, 2025. The final merit list, published as a PDF on the UPSC website, includes the names, roll numbers, and All India Ranks (AIR) of the successful candidates, providing valuable insights for future aspirants.

This year's results showcased Shakti Dubey, who achieved the coveted AIR 1, followed by Harshita Goyal at Rank 2 and Dongre Archit Parag at Rank 3. The complete list of toppers is available in the official result PDF on upsc.gov.in. The results also reveal the official cut-off marks and category-wise trends, which are crucial for understanding the competitive landscape of the examination.

The UPSC CSE is known for its challenging nature, with a success rate of less than 1% each year. For instance, the General category cut-off in 2023 was 953, and similar trends are expected for 2024. The detailed cut-off trends for various categories over the past years indicate a demanding standard that candidates must meet to succeed.

Shakti Dubey, the top scorer, hails from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, and has an impressive academic background. She completed her graduation from the University of Allahabad and pursued a postgraduation in Biochemistry from Banaras Hindu University, finishing in 2018. Her dedication to UPSC preparation, including a dissertation in cancer therapy, has made her a role model for future aspirants. In a mock interview hosted by Chahal Academy, she shared insights into her preparation strategies, emphasizing the importance of a focused and strategic approach.

Following the release of the results, the UPSC will allocate services based on merit, preferences, and category. Candidates are encouraged to regularly check the UPSC website for updates on appointment letters, training schedules, and further instructions. The commission has also provided detailed scorecards and category-wise cut-off marks, which are essential for understanding individual performance.

The selection process for the UPSC CSE is extensive, involving three main stages: the Prelims, Mains, and Interviews. This year, 14,627 candidates appeared for the Mains exam, and only 2,845 were called for the Interview round. The final selection list comprises 1,009 candidates, with 725 male and 284 female candidates successfully securing their positions.

The UPSC has categorized the selected candidates based on their respective groups, with 335 candidates from the General category, 109 from the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), 318 from Other Backward Classes (OBC), 160 from Scheduled Castes (SC), and 87 from Scheduled Tribes (ST). Notably, 45 candidates with benchmark disabilities were also included across four categories.

In a notable development, the UPSC has maintained a consolidated reserve list of 230 candidates in accordance with the Civil Services Examination Rules. This reserve list ensures that additional candidates can be considered for appointment if vacancies arise. The total number of vacancies reported by the government stands at 1,129, which includes 50 vacancies specifically allocated for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).

As candidates celebrate their achievements, they must also prepare for the next steps in their careers. The selected IAS officers will receive training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), while IPS officers will train at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA). Candidates chosen for other services will undergo training at their respective academies, ensuring they are well-prepared for their roles in public service.

The UPSC has also set up a Facilitation Counter near its examination hall for candidates seeking clarifications, operational on working days from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This initiative aims to support candidates throughout the selection process and ensure they have access to necessary information.

The marks of all candidates will be made available on the official UPSC website within 15 days from the result declaration, allowing candidates to assess their performance and understand their standing in the competitive examination.

The release of the UPSC Final Result 2025 is a defining moment for thousands of aspirants across India. Candidates are advised to check their results, download the merit list, and stay updated for further instructions regarding service allocation and joining formalities. Congratulations to all successful candidates on reaching this prestigious milestone!
