UPSC Civil Services Final Results 2024 Expected Soon

Candidates await results as final merit list set for release this month.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is gearing up to announce the final results for the 2024 Civil Services Examination (CSE) on its official website, upsc.gov.in. This eagerly awaited result will include essential details such as roll numbers, names, All India Ranks (AIR), categories, and final marks for candidates who successfully cleared the examination.

The CSE is a prestigious examination conducted to recruit candidates for two All India Services—the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS)—as well as more than 25 Central Civil Services, including the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Revenue Service (IRS). For the 2024 cycle, UPSC had notified a total of 1,056 vacancies as per the official notification released on February 14, 2024.

Approximately 3,000 candidates were shortlisted for the Personality Test round, which took place from January 7 to April 17, 2025. Candidates who passed the main exam were eligible to appear for the interview round. The main examination was conducted in two shifts on September 20, 21, 22, 28, and 29, 2024. The first shift ran from 9 AM to 12 noon, while the second shift was from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. The results for the mains exam were announced on December 9, 2025.

As the final merit list is expected to be released any time in April 2025, many candidates are anxiously awaiting the outcome. Although the Commission has not confirmed a specific date or time for the results, historical trends suggest that results are typically announced within weeks after the conclusion of interviews.

To check their results, candidates can follow these steps:

  1. Visit the official UPSC website: upsc.gov.in
  2. Navigate to the ‘What’s New’ section on the homepage.
  3. Click on the link for UPSC CSE Final Result 2024-25 PDF.
  4. Open the PDF and search for your roll number or name.
  5. Download and save the PDF for future reference.

Once the final merit list is released, candidates will be allotted services and cadres based on their ranks, categories, and preferences, as well as the availability of posts. In a follow-up to the final result, marksheets of both selected and non-selected candidates will be made available to ensure transparency.

In recent years, the results have shown a notable trend regarding gender representation among the top ranks. In 2022, women dominated the top positions, with Ishita Kishore securing AIR 1, followed by Garima Lohia, Uma Harathi N, and Smriti Mishra. A year prior, Shruti Sharma achieved AIR 1 in the UPSC CSE 2021 exam, with all top three positions being held by women—Ankita Agarwal secured AIR 2 and Gamini Singla from Chandigarh ranked 3.

However, the trend shifted in 2023, where Aditya Srivastava and Animesh Pradhan claimed AIR 1 and 2, respectively, with Donuru Ananya Reddy taking the third spot. Despite this shift, it is noteworthy that over one-third of the candidates selected for civil services in 2023 were women—352 out of the total 1,016 recommended for appointment, including six of the top ten candidates.

The list of toppers for the UPSC final results 2024 will be released alongside the results on the official website. Candidates are encouraged to stay updated by frequently checking the UPSC website for the latest information regarding the recruitment drive.

This recruitment drive is particularly significant, as it fills 1,056 posts within the organization, offering numerous candidates the opportunity to serve in various capacities within the Indian government. The registration process for this cycle commenced on February 14, 2024, and concluded on March 5, 2024.

As candidates prepare for the announcement of the results, it is essential for them to remain patient and hopeful. The UPSC Civil Services Examination is not just a test of knowledge but also a reflection of dedication and perseverance. Those who have worked diligently through the rigorous selection process will soon see the fruits of their labor.

In summary, the UPSC is set to declare the final results for the 2024 Civil Services Examination, with candidates eagerly awaiting their fate. The results will be available on the official UPSC website, and candidates are advised to follow the outlined steps to access their results promptly. With a significant number of vacancies available and a diverse pool of candidates, this year's results promise to be both competitive and revealing of emerging trends in civil service selections.
