Universal Registration Opens For Pensión Mujeres Bienestar

All Mexican women aged 60 to 64 can now register for financial support starting August 2025.

On March 10, 2025, the Secretary of Welfare, Ariadna Montiel, announced exciting news for Mexican women aged 60 to 64: the universal registration for the Pensión Mujeres Bienestar program. This significant program, which provides financial assistance to support the livelihoods of older women, will open its doors for registration from August 4 to August 30, 2025.

The Pensión Mujeres Bienestar aims to offer monetary support of 3,000 pesos bimonthly, ensuring no eligible woman is left behind. Montiel emphasized the goal of incorporating as many beneficiaries as possible, allowing broader access to this much-needed financial aid.

"Nuestra presidenta anunció el día sábado en el evento de los 8 de marzo aquí en Palacio Nacional que la pensión para Mujeres Bienestar será universal para todas las mujeres ya de 60 a 64 años," said Montiel, highlighting the inclusivity of the initiative.

Previously, the program only provided assistance to women aged 63 and 64 outside indigenous or Afro-Mexican communities, which often left many older women exclud. The universal program is set to fix this discrepancy, ensuring all eligible women can benefit regardless of location.

During her announcement alongside President Claudia Sheinbaum, at the Palacio Nacional, Montiel reiterated the importance of this program. "Un millón de mujeres ya reciben, de 63 y 64 años, la Pensión Mujeres Bienestar en reconocimiento del trabajo que hemos realizado y que realizamos en el trabajo del hogar," Sheinbaum stated, expressing the government's recognition of the invaluable work elderly women contribute through domestic responsibilities.

The registration process requires women to provide several documents, including official identification (such as voter ID or passport), birth certificate, CURP (Unique Population Registry Code), proof of address (dated within the last six months), and contact information. This information will help facilitate the registration at the nearest Módulo de Bienestar during the registration period.

A registration schedule will follow alphabetical order, allowing participants to register according to the first letter of their last names on specified days throughout August 2025. This organizational structure aims to streamline the process and minimize overcrowding at registration sites.

Current beneficiaries who will age out of the program will transition smoothly to the Pensión para el Bienestar de las Personas Adultas Mayores when they reach 65. The Pensión Mujeres Bienestar will continue to provide much-needed financial relief directly deposited onto the Beneficiaries’ Banco del Bienestar card, emphasizing simplicity and accessibility.

Montiel noted, "Como serán dos millones de mujeres adicionales al millón que ya la recibe, vamos a dar todo el mes. Lo quisimos informar desde ahora para que la información sea la correcta." This commitment to inclusion signals a significant shift toward ensuring no elderly woman is left without support as they age, regardless of location or background.

The Pensión Mujeres Bienestar project is part of more extensive social welfare efforts by the Mexican government, reflecting state priorities of aging population support. It addresses long-standing inequalities faced by women, acknowledging their role not only within households but also their contributions to society at large. The registration marks a historical turning point for the Pensión, significantly widening its scope.

With the new registration slated for August, many women are encouraged to prepare their documents early, assuring their eligibility for the financial assistance soon to be available. During this societal momentum, it is evident each step reflects the government’s broader agenda to empower women financially, promoting dignity and support during their later years.

Overall, the Pensión Mujeres Bienestar demonstrates how targeted social programs can have lasting impacts on communities, allowing women to receive the support they rightfully deserve. This universal integration not only aims to bolster financial security for older women but also serves as recognition of their lifelong contributions to family and society.
