Uniqlo Opens Major New Store In Futako-Tamagawa

The store highlights local collaborations and community engagement in its design and offerings.

On March 20, 2025, Uniqlo will expand its footprint by opening the Uniqlo Tamataka Store on the 4th floor of the Tamagawa Takashimaya South Building, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to serve the Futako-Tamagawa community. This new store will stand as the largest in the Setagaya area, featuring an extensive sales floor area of approximately 780 tsubo, designed to accommodate a variety of customers, from families with strollers to shoppers looking for a comfortable environment.

The Uniqlo Tamataka store aims to blend retail with local culture, embracing the neighborhood’s charm with a focus on community connection. Notable is the spacious layout that allows for easy navigation and includes wide aisles specifically designed for stroller access. The store offers several lounge areas where shoppers can take a break, enhancing the overall shopping experience.

In an effort to increase convenience, the store will also trial 770 automated pickup lockers, making it the fourth Uniqlo outlet in Japan to adopt this innovation. This feature enables customers to collect their online purchases without lengthy waits at service counters, further encouraging visitors to explore the store and its offerings.

To celebrate its grand opening, Uniqlo Tamataka will introduce exclusive collaboration items that reflect the store's community-centric ethos. Highlighting this initiative is the 'Arezm Cotton Crew Neck T', a collaboration with the popular West Coast brand Ron Herman. Available in men’s sizes for 1,990 yen and kids’ for 990 yen, this limited-edition T-shirt features a simple yet stylish design, including the tagline "Today is Beautiful" printed on the back alongside the Ron Herman logo.

Customers can also look forward to the store's special assortment of T-shirts that showcase unique local characters, such as Takashimaya's mascot 'Rose-chan' and designs inspired by the local rugby team, the Ricoh Black Rams Tokyo. Such local collaborations not only elevate the shopping experience but also foster a deeper connection with the community.

During the opening days from March 20 to 23, shoppers who spend over 10,000 yen will receive a complimentary set composed of a bouquet from 'UNIQLO FLOWER' and a 'Ron Herman x Uniqlo original bandana.' Additionally, another giveaway from March 24 to 30 will allow customers to receive a 'Round Woolly Twill Mini Bag’ when they make qualifying purchases. A special treat awaits those visiting from March 20 to 23, as they can enjoy complimentary Baumkuchen flavored with cherry blossom courtesy of the local cafe, 'Tamakoohen,' with a total of 4,000 cakes up for grabs.

Uniqlo aims to deepen the local connection with an initiative dubbed the 'UNIQLO CITY GUIDE TAMATAKA AREA.' This free guide will introduce visitors to various culinary and shopping gems in the Tamataka area, encouraging them to explore and enjoy what the community has to offer.

The store has also committed to sustainability and repair options by introducing the 'RE.UNIQLO STUDIO' service. As part of its mission to help customers make the best of their clothing, this service allows shoppers to customize their garments or repair them, promoting a circular economy and sustainability.

Uniqlo's approach reflects its strategy of integrating retail operations within the local context, enhancing the shopping experience while contributing positively to the neighborhood. A representative from Uniqlo, Ryotaro Watanabe, expressed the company's goal succinctly: "We want to nurture a store rooted in the community. We offer a full line-up of products tailored to fit various lifestyles, ensuring customers enjoy a leisurely shopping experience while exploring the Tamataka area with our city guide."

The Uniqlo Tamataka store's hours of operation will be from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, providing ample opportunity for customers to visit and experience the new offerings. This grand opening is not just an addition to Uniqlo's network but a celebration of community, collaboration, and customer experience, setting a new standard for retail in the area.
