On December 2, for example, Ternopil, home to 224,000 residents, experienced significant disruptions when a drone hit one of its energy infrastructure facilities, leaving much of the city dark.
"An enemy drone hit an energy infrastructure facility in Ternopil. Part of the city is without electricity," stated Ternopil's mayor, Sergiy Nadal. This is not the first incident of its kind; just the month prior, Ternopil had already been coping with outages caused by previous strikes.
The situation across western Ukraine has worsened as Russian forces have expanded their aerial attacks, previously more focused on eastern regions of Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian air force, Russia launched 28 drones at various targets, with Ukrainian defenses successfully intercepting 22 of them.
