Ukraine has made significant strides in its trade relations with the European Union (EU) through the Solidarity Corridors, exporting approximately 179 million tons of goods since the initiative's inception in May 2022. This initiative, launched in response to the blockade of Ukrainian ports by Russia, has become a lifeline for the beleaguered economy, facilitating critical imports and exports amidst ongoing conflict.
According to the European Commission, the total trade value between Ukraine and the EU via these Solidarity Paths has surpassed a staggering €211 billion as of April 25, 2025. This figure includes €61 billion in exports and €150 billion in imports, highlighting the initiative's pivotal role in sustaining Ukraine's economy during a tumultuous period.
In March 2025 alone, about 85% of imports to Ukraine utilized these Solidarity Paths, with only 15% coming through the Black Sea. The trade landscape has transformed dramatically, with approximately 50% of non-agricultural exports and around 20% of grain and oilseeds being sent through these corridors.
Breaking down the exports, approximately 91 million tons of agricultural products, including about 85 million tons of grains and oilseeds, have been transported through the Solidarity Paths. Additionally, 88 million tons of non-agricultural goods, such as steel and other essential materials, have also been exported. Since the start of this initiative, Ukraine has exported about 189 million tons of grain and oilseeds, with 45% of that volume routed through the Solidarity Corridors.
