UK National Lottery Offers Record Breaking EuroMillions Jackpot

A staggering £199 million EuroMillions jackpot on June 3 could create the UK27s biggest lottery winner, surpassing previous records and celebrity fortunes

On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, the UK's National Lottery offered a staggering £199 million EuroMillions jackpot, potentially the largest prize ever awarded in the country. This monumental draw captured the attention of millions, with hopes high that one lucky ticket-holder might just become the biggest National Lottery winner in UK history.

National Lottery operator Allwyn confirmed the significance of the prize, stating that if a single UK player were to claim the jackpot, they would instantly surpass the wealth of celebrities like singer Dua Lipa, estimated to be worth £104 million, and football star Harry Kane, reportedly valued at around £91 million. Andy Carter, senior winners’ adviser at Allwyn, emphasized the historic nature of the draw: “We are now on the verge of creating the biggest National Lottery winner this country has ever seen, as the EuroMillions jackpot will be an estimated £199 million this Tuesday.”

The EuroMillions draw numbers for the evening were 12, 15, 38, 47, and 48, with Lucky Stars 05 and 07. The Thunderball draw, which also took place that night, offered a top prize of £500,000, with winning numbers 01, 09, 11, 17, and 20, and Thunderball number 05. Both draws were held live, with the Thunderball numbers announced just after 8 pm and the EuroMillions following at around 8:45 pm.

Despite the enormous jackpot, no player managed to match all five main numbers and two Lucky Stars to claim the top prize on June 3. This meant the prize would roll over again, with Friday's estimated jackpot climbing to an eye-watering £208 million. The jackpot had already rolled over from the previous Friday, May 30, when the £185 million prize went unclaimed.

The EuroMillions game requires players to select five main numbers and two Lucky Stars, with tickets costing £2.50 per line. Players had until 7:30 pm on draw days to purchase tickets, either by choosing their own numbers or opting for a Lucky Dip, where numbers are randomly selected. Besides the main jackpot, all UK EuroMillions ticket holders automatically receive an entry into the UK Millionaire Maker game, guaranteeing at least one new millionaire per draw. On June 3, the Millionaire Maker selection created one UK millionaire with the code HKVV08213.

EuroMillions has a rich history of life-changing wins in the UK. The current potential jackpot of £199 million would eclipse the existing record of £195 million, won by an anonymous UK ticket-holder on July 19, 2022. Just two months prior, in May 2022, Joe and Jess Thwaite from Gloucester won £184,262,899 with a Lucky Dip ticket, marking one of the country's biggest lottery windfalls. Another anonymous winner took home £177 million in November 2024, while the largest jackpot so far in 2025 was £83 million in January.

Looking back further, some of the UK's most memorable lottery moments include an anonymous winner who scooped £170,221,000 in October 2019, and the Scottish couple Colin and Chris Weir, who won £161,653,000 in July 2011. Adrian and Gillian Bayford from Suffolk also made headlines with their £148,656,000 win in August 2012. Meanwhile, Jane Park became the youngest British lottery winner in 2013 when she claimed £1 million.

The EuroMillions lottery first launched on February 7, 2004, as a joint venture between France's Française des Jeux, Spain's Loterías y Apuestas del Estado, and the UK's Camelot. Since then, it has grown into one of the most popular lotteries in Europe, offering multiple draws each week on Tuesdays and Fridays. Other National Lottery games include Lotto on Wednesdays and Saturdays, Set For Life on Mondays and Thursdays, and the Thunderball, which takes place four times a week.

For those dreaming of a life beyond the daily grind, the odds of winning any EuroMillions prize stand at about 1 in 13, making the dream tantalizingly within reach for many. The allure of swapping the daily commute for a superyacht or lounging on a private beach continues to draw millions to the ticket counters and online portals.

While the June 3 jackpot went unclaimed, the excitement remains palpable as anticipation builds for the next draw. As Andy Carter advised, “Get your tickets early to ensure you’ll be in with a chance of a massive life-changing win.” With the jackpot climbing and the thrill of the game alive, the National Lottery continues to captivate the UK, offering hope, dreams, and the possibility of fortune beyond imagination.
