UGC NET June 2025 Application Process Now Open

Candidates can apply online until May 7, with exams scheduled for late June.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially launched the application process for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) June 2025. The announcement, made on April 16, 2025, allows candidates to apply online until May 7, 2025. This important examination, which plays a crucial role in determining eligibility for the position of Assistant Professor and for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges, is set to take place from June 21 to June 30, 2025.

As per the notification, candidates can access the application portal at ugcnet.nta.ac.in. The deadline for submitting applications is May 7, 2025, with the last date for payment of the examination fee set for May 8, 2025. Additionally, a correction window for any errors in the application form will be available from May 9 to May 10, 2025.

For the General category, the application fee is Rs 1150, while candidates from the EWS and OBC-NCL categories must pay Rs 600. Candidates belonging to the SC/ST and third gender categories will be required to pay Rs 325. Payment can be made via various methods, including credit card, debit card, net banking, and UPI.

Eligibility criteria for the UGC NET June 2025 exam stipulate that candidates must possess a Master’s degree or an equivalent qualification from a university recognized by UGC, with at least 55% marks for the General category and 50% for OBC-NCL/SC/ST candidates. Notably, students in their final year of a four-year graduation program are also eligible to apply. These candidates must have secured a minimum of 75% marks or an equivalent grade in their graduation program to qualify for the exam.

The UGC NET exam will be conducted in a Computer Based Test (CBT) format, covering a total of 85 subjects. The examination will comprise two papers: Paper 1 will consist of 50 questions worth 100 marks, while Paper 2 will feature 100 questions totaling 200 marks. The total duration for the examination is three hours, and each correct response will earn candidates two marks. Importantly, there will be no negative marking for incorrect answers, and no marks will be awarded for unattempted questions.
