Ubisoft Launches Groundbreaking Update For Rainbow Six Siege

Players can now access expanded gameplay experiences with exciting new features and free modes.

Ubisoft unveiled today the eagerly anticipated Rainbow Six Siege X, marking the game's most significant evolution yet since its debut. Scheduled for release on June 10, 2025, this update introduces Dual Front, an immersive new 6v6 game mode complemented by various upgrades to the already dynamic game.

Dual Front will debut on the newly crafted map called District, providing both seasoned veterans and newcomers alike with fresh and engaging gameplay. The main objective is simple yet challenging: teams must secure three enemy sectors simultaneously, all the time defending their own. Players will have access to a curated selection of 35 Operators, including both Attackers and Defenders, allowing for unprecedented tactical combinations and strategies.

One of the most exciting aspects of Dual Front is its gameplay flexibility. It allows respawning and provides opportunities for strategic adjustments mid-match. Players can even embrace the chaos by mixing roles within their squad, enhancing the dynamic nature of team interactions. Time-limited assignments will be available within neutral zones, offering players additional avenues to gain advantages through completing objectives during gameplay.

The Closed Beta for Dual Front is currently underway and is available until March 19, 2025, on PC via Ubisoft Connect, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Impressively, players will not be required to own the base game to participate, with access provided through Twitch Drops by watching partnered creator streams.

To celebrate the significant anniversary of the game and its evolution, Rainbow Six Siege X will also adopt new visual enhancements. Clubhouse, Chalet, Border, Bank, and Kafe will be among the first maps to receive substantial revamps, featuring upgraded lighting, textures, and destructible elements within the environments. Ubisoft aims to modernize the player experience, as engaging with the game's dynamic landscapes becomes even more rewarding.

s the team's anti-cheat efforts have been bolstered significantly, with reports of cheating decreasing by 30% due to tripling the size of the anti-cheat team last year. On top of this, the unification of existing anti-cheat initiatives under the banner of R6 ShieldGuard will introduce state-of-the-art technologies, including live updates to prevent cheating without needing scheduled maintenance.

Starting June 10, Rainbow Six Siege will fully transition to free-to-play, allowing new players to engage with core casual modes, including Dual Front, Unranked, and Quick Play, with access to 26 operators through progression. For competitive players, upgrading to premium editions will provide access to Ranked mode and Siege Cup after reaching player level 50, along with immediate access to more operators.

Current players need not feel concerned about these changes, as existing accounts and content will carry over, with exclusive benefits for long-time players. "Players who take advantage of free access will have 10 Operators at their disposal right from the start and can expand the roster to 26 through in-game progression," said Ubisoft.

New players will benefit from the revamped onboarding experience, equipped with tutorials and training modules to help them grasp the game's intricacies before they plunge headfirst. Enhancements, such as new communication wheels, will facilitate non-verbal callouts among teammates, making strategic planning more seamless than before.

Rainbow Six Siege X is not just about the gameplay. It's set to invigorate the community surrounding the game with exciting opportunities, such as the upcoming RELOAD esports competition takes place from May 8 to 18, 2025, showcasing professional players battling it out on Siege X. With all these updates and enhancements, the stage is set for the game to continue thriving for years to come.

Ubisoft remains committed to enriching gamers' lives. With the launch of Siege X, they kick off this transformative chapter, grounded firmly in enhancing player experience and fostering community engagement—keeping the strategic depth and tactical excellence central to Rainbow Six Siege.
