The UAE is bracing for severe weather conditions starting from Wednesday afternoon, with the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) issuing warnings for active winds and rain across various regions.
According to their official announcement on social media, the NCM predicts thunderstorm-like clouds accompanied by rainfall and wind speeds reaching up to 40 km/h. This inclement weather is expected to buffet parts of the northern and eastern coastal areas from 12:10 PM until 8:00 PM.
Meanwhile, forecasters expect the weather on Thursday to remain partly cloudy to cloudy, particularly over eastern and northern regions, with the possibility of sporadic rain showers. Conditions will be humid overnight and on Friday morning, with some inland areas likely experiencing light fog.
The NCM’s daily weather statement highlighted the anticipated atmospheric conditions, stating, “It will be partly cloudy to occasionally cloudy over some eastern and northern areas with chances of rain and humid nights leading to possible fog formation on Friday morning.”
Winds are predicted to be light to moderately strong at times, primarily blowing from the northeast to northwest, with speeds varying between 10 to 25 km/h, occasionally reaching up to 35 km/h. Sea conditions are expected to be light, but may become rough at times particularly under adverse weather conditions.
For swimmers and those venturing out to sea, the first high tide is slated for 9:46 AM, with the second high tide occurring at 10:43 PM. Low tides will take place at 5:17 PM and 2:47 AM, affecting coastal activities.
Similar predictions apply to the Sea of Oman, where wave heights are also expected to be mild with tides noted for 8:08 PM and 5:55 AM, alongside low tides at 12:51 PM and 1:10 AM.
The expected temperatures for Thursday across the Emirates vary, with Abu Dhabi reaching highs of 25°C and lows of 16°C, and Dubai expected to hit 26°C at its peak and 19°C at its lowest.
This weather update is significant for residents and visitors as preparations are necessary to mitigate any disruption caused by the forecasted heavy winds and rains.
Due to the unpredictable nature of such weather phenomena, local authorities have recommended caution, particularly for those undertaking travel or outdoor activities during this period.
