A serious accident occurred early Saturday morning, May 10, 2025, on the Rodovia Presidente Tancredo de Almeida Neves, near the Espetão restaurant, which lies between the municipalities of Franco da Rocha and Caieiras. The incident took place around 4:30 AM when a vehicle heading toward Franco da Rocha lost control on a curve and violently collided with a pole.
Inside the car were five individuals. Tragically, one victim succumbed to injuries at the scene. Four others were urgently transported to nearby hospitals; two were taken to Hospital Albano in Franco da Rocha, while the other two were rushed to the Pronto-Socorro de Caieiras. Unfortunately, one of the victims admitted to the Caieiras hospital also passed away shortly after arrival, raising the death toll to two.
Among the deceased was identified as Franciele Gabriele da Silva. Her body has been transferred to the Instituto Médico Legal (IML) and is awaiting official identification by her family. The identities of the other victims are yet to be confirmed.
Authorities are currently investigating the causes of the accident. The highway was partially closed during the morning for investigative work and vehicle removal.
In a separate incident on the same day, the Rodovia dos Bandeirantes was closed at Km 23 in São Paulo due to a fatality involving a man who was struck by a car while attempting to move a cow off the roadway. Eyewitnesses reported that the man was trying to clear the lane when he was tragically hit.
Readers of the "Jornal da Região" reported being stuck in traffic for about an hour as a result of the closure. In response to the congestion, some drivers opted to navigate through the central reservation to return to the Marginal do Tietê, aiming to access the Via Anhanguera toward the interior.
