Twirling Competitors Shine At National Championship In Marck

Athletes from Office des clubs mévennais excelled in recent FSCF competition and prepare for upcoming team event.

The recent national individual twirling cup organized by the Fédération sportive et culturelle de France (FSCF) took place last weekend in Marck, Pas-de-Calais, and highlighted the burgeoning talent of twirlers across France. This vibrant event showcased six athletes from the Office des clubs mévennais (OCM), each of whom qualified through a previous regional competition.

According to Marie-Anne Poupelin, the president of the twirling section of OCM, "They were accompanied by their coaches, judges, and families, to compete against clubs from all over France." This support network is crucial for athletes as they prepare to showcase their skills on such a significant platform.

During the competition, the OCM athletes delivered commendable performances. Héléane Le Corre secured the 10th place, while Charlie Perrel excelled to finish 4th in their respective categories. Other strong performances included Zélie Le May at 8th, Aélia Gicquel and Lilyrose Le May both at 12th, and Lucie Doléan finishing in 14th place.

Poupelin remarked, "This weekend of national competition concluded their individual season," underscoring the importance of this event in their overall journey. The results serve as a testament to the hard work and diligence of the athletes throughout the season.

Looking ahead, the athletes are set to participate in an upcoming team competition this Saturday, March 29, 2025. This event is described as a 'championship white,' taking place from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Salle Delisse. As Poupelin explains, "It’s like a rehearsal with twirlers in outfits, controlled music times, and judges evaluating the teams. It is not a competition. Entrance is free and open." This informal setup encourages participation without the pressure of competition, allowing athletes to refine their routines in front of an audience.

This weekend's gathering is not only a rehearsal; it serves as a community celebration, drawing attention to the sport of twirling in the region. The opportunity for athletes to showcase their talents in an encouraging environment can be pivotal for their development and confidence.

As the athletes look forward to showcasing their teamwork and skills at the white championship, the local twirling community is abuzz with excitement. Events like these are opportunities for growth, camaraderie, and a deeper appreciation for the sport, further cementing the bond between the athletes and their supporters. With dedicated athletes eager to shine, the future of twirling at OCM looks promising.

In conclusion, the FSCF national individual twirling cup not only concluded the local athletes' individual seasons but also set the stage for future events that nurture and grow the community's talent in twirling. As they prepare for upcoming competitions, these young athletes embody the spirit of perseverance and teamwork.
