TVB Drama Darkside Of The Moon Captivates Viewers

The series concludes a gripping children's home case while introducing bizarre new plot twists and comedic moments.

The TVB drama Darkside of the Moon, starring Chan Shan-Chung, Cheung Chun-Long, Lau Pui-Yu, and Lau Shui-Ham, aired a new episode on March 25, 2025, officially concluding the children's home case. The episode has sparked significant audience interest, particularly for Yumi Chung's performance, which has garnered high praise. Viewers are even suggesting that her role qualifies her for the Best Supporting Actress award, marking a notable milestone in her 23-year acting career.

Following the resolution of the children's home case, the storyline shifts to a new plot involving bizarre incidents. Kwok Pak-Fei, portrayed by Chan Shan-Chung, and Sister Ginger, played by Lau Pui-Yu, have formed the "Secret Information Intelligence Section" to investigate the source of mysterious messages. This new angle introduces a series of thrilling developments, including a shocking incident where Lung Gor, played by Savio Tsang, is suspected of using dirty tactics to defeat Ah Tak, portrayed by Kwok Tsz-Hao, in a boxing match. The tension escalates when Lung Gor suddenly spontaneously combusts, transforming into a fireball that charges towards Carrie, played by Lau Shui-Ham, who is racing to the scene after receiving a secret message from Julie.

In a daring rescue, Tsui-Long, played by Cheung Chun-Long, pushes Carrie out of harm's way but suffers burns to his hands in the process. This intense moment has captivated audiences, showcasing the blend of drama and suspense that the show is known for.

The drama's promotional campaign continues to excite fans. On March 26, 2025, the crew released a new set of promotional photos, featuring Cheung Chun-Long in a lighthearted mood. In the images, he is seen making comical expressions and even using his feet to hold a fork while eating spaghetti, a scene that has brought laughter to viewers. Cheung revealed in an interview with TVB.COM that he never anticipated that the stretching exercises he initially planned for action scenes would end up being used for comedic effect. "I really didn’t expect it. I was stretching a lot to prevent injuries during action scenes, but it turned out to be quite useful for humor as well!" he said.

Cheung explained that the scene where he eats spaghetti and grapes with his feet was designed to add a playful element, as Tsui-Long aims to tease Carrie. He recalled, "The most enjoyable part of that scene was during rehearsals when we were already laughing. We took our practice seriously, but it was still hilarious! At the end, I placed my foot in my mouth, which was actually the director's suggestion. He said, 'If you’re going to do it, do it to the fullest!"

Cheung also shared his thoughts on the most memorable action scene, which involved sprinting towards a moving car to save Lau Shui-Ham's character. The scene drew playful comments from netizens, who joked that he ran faster than a Tesla. "It was really tough to film that scene! The director wanted me to look like I was genuinely exhausted from running. I had to run many times until I was completely out of breath!" he laughed.

Despite the drama's intense moments, it also successfully integrates humor, with Cheung Chun-Long taking on the role of the comic relief. His antics, including the use of absurd expressions and exaggerated physical comedy, have become a highlight of the show. Fans appreciate the balance of tension and laughter, which keeps them engaged week after week.

In addition to the main plot, the show features subplots that add depth to the character dynamics. For instance, Au Ming-Man, who plays Law Lok-Lok, recently participated in a talent show within the series, performing a dance and song. She enlisted the help of her guardians, Kwok Pak-Fei and Au Yeung-Man, as backup dancers. However, her performance received mixed reviews from viewers, with some noting that it paled in comparison to her usual self-recorded dance videos on social media.

Some fans even suggested that Yumi Chung should have guest-starred in the role, arguing that Au Ming-Man's performance lacked the necessary breakthrough. "I’d rather see Yumi do it. She’s just so much better!" commented one viewer, highlighting the competitive nature of the entertainment industry.

As rumors circulate about Au Ming-Man's future with TVB, she recently addressed concerns about possibly leaving the network. In a casual interaction with fans during a livestream, she hinted at changes, saying, "It might happen soon!" However, she later clarified to the media that she is not leaving TVB anytime soon, stating, "Not so fast! I still have a few years left on my contract." She also mentioned that besides Darkside of the Moon, she has other projects lined up, including War of the Worlds and Justice Women, which will be airing soon.

Au Ming-Man, who was once part of the girl group Honey Bees under Liza Wang, has had an intriguing career path. In 2017, she received an invitation from a Korean company to train as a singer but declined, citing her commitment to finishing her education and her preference for acting over singing. This decision reflects her dedication to her craft and her desire to carve out a unique identity in the entertainment landscape.

As the drama progresses, audiences are eager to see how the storylines unfold, especially with the new case of spontaneous human combustion introduced. The blend of mystery, action, and humor continues to resonate with viewers, solidifying Darkside of the Moon as a must-watch series this season.
