Trump Nominates Five New U.S. Ambassadors

President-elect reveals choices for key diplomatic roles, emphasizing experience and patriotism.

President-elect Trump recently announced his nominations for U.S. ambassadors to five countries: Japan, the Dominican Republic, Austria, Luxembourg, and Uruguay. These nominations were made during a series of posts on Truth Social, where the incoming president elaborated on each pick, emphasizing their qualifications and expected contributions to U.S. interests abroad.

Among the nominated ambassadors is George Edward Glass, who has previously served as the U.S. ambassador to Portugal. Trump highlighted Glass's extensive business experience, noting, "George will bring his business acumen to the Ambassador’s position." A graduate of the University of Oregon, Glass was recognized for serving as Alumni President and on the university's Board of Trustees. Trump added, "He will always PUT AMERICA FIRST. Congratulations George!”

Leah Francis Campos, who is set to become the U.S. ambassador to the Dominican Republic, is another notable nominee. Trump stated, "Leah served our Country as a CIA Case Officer before becoming Senior Advisor for the Western Hemisphere on the House Foreign Affairs Committee." He expressed confidence in her commitment, saying, "Leah will take her love of Country, and commitment to our National Security and Prosperity, to her post as U.S. Ambassador to the Dominican Republic. Congratulations Leah!”

Another prominent nomination is Arthur Graham Fisher for the position of U.S. ambassador to Austria. Fisher, who runs Fisher Realty, was described by Trump as someone who has been consistently ranked as one of the top brokers, addressing influential clients. "Art has been a staunch supporter of America First Policies, and will make us proud in Austria!" Trump expressed, underscoring Fisher's relevance and preparedness for the role.

Stacey Feinberg, nominated to serve as U.S. ambassador to Luxembourg, also received commendation from Trump. He mentioned her diverse background as "a Producer of Broadway musicals, a motivational speaker, and a Board Member of the Women Founders Network." Trump said she is dedicated to helping women launch and grow their businesses, noting, "Stacy will be GREAT, and make America proud!”

Lou Rinaldi will serve as the U.S. ambassador to Uruguay. Trump described Rinaldi as "a successful businessman, entrepreneur, and longtime friend" who grew up in Uruguay. He emphasized Rinaldi's familiarity with the nation's culture, stating, "His expertise and background make him exceptionally qualified to advance U.S. interests, and strengthen the longstanding partnership between the United States and Uruguay.”

These nominations mark Trump’s intent to prioritize experienced individuals who align with his political philosophy. Each nominee requires confirmation from the U.S. Senate, making the upcoming legislative reviews particularly significant for the newly elected administration. Alongside the diplomatic profiles shared, Trump’s comments reflect his broader foreign policy stance emphasizing American interests and partnerships.

This announcement also signals the administration's emphasis on choosing individuals who embody the "America First" principle across multiple diplomatic fronts. The nominations are not just appointments; they represent strategic choices aimed at reinforcing U.S. presence and influence across these regions globally.

Overall, Trump's nominations place established professionals at the forefront of American diplomacy, setting the stage for their eventual confirmations and future roles. The approach suggests continuity within foreign relations strategies, coupled with fresh perspectives through the nominees’ varied experiences and backgrounds.

Should these nominees be confirmed, they may significantly shape U.S. foreign relations as they bring their extensive backgrounds and diverse experiences to their respective posts. The upcoming Senate confirmations will be pivotal as the narrative of this administration's foreign policy begins to take shape.
