Troyes ESTAC Signs Midfielder Alexandre Phliponeau For Winter

The Ligue 2 club aims to boost squad following challenging season start.

Troyes ESTAC has officially secured the signing of defensive midfielder Alexandre Phliponeau, marking the club's first acquisition of the winter transfer window. The 24-year-old player, who previously spent time at Olympique de Marseille, has signed with ESTAC through the end of the season, with the option for a two-year extension following his initial six-month deal.

Phliponeau, who has not had the opportunity to represent OM's first team, brings experience from stints with other clubs, most recently Concarneau. He is eager to make his mark at ESTAC, especially since he was without a club for several months before this signing. "I am very happy to join ESTAC, which is an iconic club. The club has an ambitious project, with a coach who advocates beautiful values and attractive football," Phliponeau stated, adding, "I can't wait to meet the supporters at Stade de l'Aube, and I hope we can achieve a great second half of the season together."

The addition of Phliponeau is seen as not only timely but also strategic for Troyes, which currently sits 13th in Ligue 2. With only three points separating them from the relegation threshold, strengthening the midfield is imperative. Phliponeau's previous experience, including his captaincy role with the reserve team of OM, positions him well to contribute significantly as the team aims to secure its spot and avoid relegation.

Trained at Olympique de Marseille, Phliponeau's path has been peppered with challenges. He captained the reserve team but struggled with injuries, including a serious knee ligament injury, which limited his ability to progress as expected. Despite these setbacks, the talented midfielder returned to the pitch with Concarneau before moving to Troyes, and now he is ready for this new chapter.

During the announcement of his signing, ESTAC emphasized its confidence in Phliponeau's abilities, believing his technical skills and energetic playstyle will bolster the squad. The club is optimistic about achieving more consistent performances through this winter transfer update.

Phliponeau is ready to step onto the pitch for his debut, which is anticipated to be during the match against Rodez on January 10. Fans and team officials alike are hopeful he can quickly integrate and help lift the team’s performance as they push for success during the second half of the season.

This winter signing not only adds depth to the team's lineup but also continues the club’s ambition to demonstrate growth and development. With the arrival of Phliponeau, the club exhibits its strategy of investing in players with potential and promise, hoping to revitalize its campaign before the league progresses.
