Triple J's One Night Stand Returns To Busselton

The festival features Spacey Jane and more on May 24, 2025

In an exciting announcement for music lovers, Triple J's annual regional music festival, One Night Stand, is set to return to Western Australia for the first time in nearly a decade. The festival will take place on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Barnard Park in Busselton, a coastal town known for its beautiful beaches and vibrant community.

This year's lineup is headlined by Fremantle indie rock band Spacey Jane, who are celebrating the release of their much-anticipated third album. They will be joined on stage by a host of talented Australian acts, including fellow West Australian artist LUUDE, singer-songwriter Ruby Fields, hip hop supergroup 3%, pop trio Blusher, and psychedelic group Velvet Trip. Additionally, a yet-to-be-announced winner from the Triple J Unearthed competition will also perform, adding an element of surprise to the already stellar lineup.

Announced live from Busselton Jetty by presenter Ash McGregor, the festival marks a significant return for One Night Stand, which has not visited Western Australia since it was hosted in Geraldton in 2016. The event has a rich history, having launched in 2004 and rotating locations each year to bring live music to regional areas across Australia.

One Night Stand took a break from 2020 to 2023 due to the pandemic, leaving fans eager for its return. The festival's last iteration in 2024 took place in Warrnambool, Victoria, featuring artists like G Flip, Ruel, What So Not, and Thelma Plum. This year's event is particularly significant as it comes at a time when the Australian live music scene faces challenges, with several major festivals, including Splendour in the Grass and Groovin the Moo, opting out of 2024 and 2025.

Tickets for the 2025 One Night Stand are affordably priced, starting at $15 plus a booking fee, with all proceeds being donated to charity organizations such as Support Act, The Push, Undalup Association, and Karri Karrak Aboriginal Corporation. The festival is designed to be an all-ages, drug-and-alcohol-free event, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the music in a safe environment.

Tickets went on sale at 5 PM AEDT on March 27, 2025, with prices set to accommodate various age groups: $11.25 for attendees aged 6-15 and $16.35 for those aged 16 and over. The youth broadcaster emphasized the importance of accessible live music, stating, “Access to Australian live music is important to us, so we’ve made the ticket price affordable to ensure as many people as possible can attend.”

Local music fans are encouraged to act quickly to secure accommodation, as interest in the festival is expected to draw attendees from across the country, particularly from the East Coast. The last major music festival to be held in Busselton was the Southbound camping event, which was canceled in 2016. With the return of One Night Stand, the town is poised to once again become a hub for live music enthusiasts.

As excitement builds for the upcoming festival, Spacey Jane’s lead singer Caleb Harper expressed his enthusiasm for performing in regional areas, stating, “Being someone who grew up in a small town in Western Australia, I know that whenever someone comes through, it’s just such an exciting moment to have people touring things in a place that doesn’t usually get things.” He emphasized the mutual appreciation between artists and fans, highlighting the joy of connecting with audiences outside major cities.

With the festival's history of showcasing diverse talent and fostering a love for live music in regional communities, One Night Stand's return to Busselton is set to be a memorable event. The anticipation surrounding the lineup and the community's involvement promises a vibrant atmosphere filled with music, camaraderie, and celebration.

As the date approaches, fans are reminded to prepare for an unforgettable day of music and fun, as One Night Stand continues its legacy of bringing live performances to Australian towns that might otherwise miss out on such experiences. The festival not only supports local talent but also strengthens the connection between artists and their fans, making it a cherished event in the Australian music calendar.
