Transfer Speculation: Bayern Munich Stars Available Next Summer

Joshua Kimmich and Leroy Sane among Bayern players linked to FC Barcelona and Liverpool amid contract expirations.

A Bayern Munich first team star has been offered to FC Barcelona by the player's camp with the hope of signing him as a free agent next summer, according to SPORT, which cited anonymous sources. The Catalans were loosely linked to Joshua Kimmich as they sought to fill the void left by legendary midfielder Sergio Busquets, who left Camp Nou for Inter Miami after lifting the La Liga title as captain.

With Xavi Hernandez at the helm, the desire was clear: Kimmich was preferred as Busquets' successor. Unfortunately, Barcelona's financial struggles forced them to settle for Oriol Romeu, who has since returned to Girona after proving ill-suited for high-level competition. These challenges culminated this past spring when Xavi faced dismissal amid mounting pressures related to the club's finances.

Meanwhile, recent rumors have also circulated about Barcelona's interest in Alphonso Davies—a player coveted not only by the Blaugrana but also by eternal rivals Real Madrid. According to The Athletic, Davies has verbally agreed to join Madrid midway through the 2025 season. Both Kimmich and Davies are set to become free agents on June 30 next year, which adds to the speculation surrounding their future moves.

Barcelona could benefit from additional reinforcements, particularly players who can fill key roles on both the left and right flanks. Beyond this, the club is also reportedly keeping tabs on Leroy Sane, who may also be available at no cost when his contract ends. Like Kimmich and Davies, Sane's deal will be expiring, and rumors suggest he has been offered to Barcelona, which is assessing its options amid significant Premier League interest from clubs like Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester United.

For Sane to join Barcelona, he may have to agree to lower his salary demands if he wants to navigate the club's challenging Financial Fair Play (FFP) situation, which has hindered their ability to both register new players and secure contract renewals for existing stars. A potential positive for Sane, should he make the move, is his pre-existing relationship with Bayern coach Hansi Flick, whom he helped guide to Bundesliga glory and other significant trophies like the Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup during their successful 2020/2021 campaign.

On the other hand, Liverpool is also setting their sight on Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala, who has emerged as one of the most talented young players in the Bundesliga. Under the management of coach Arne Slot, Liverpool has impressed this season, leading both the Premier League and Champions League rankings. The Reds are reportedly competing with Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Barcelona for Musiala, who is drawing attention due to his exceptional performances since transitioning from the Chelsea academy to Bayern.

Musiala, now 21 years old, has had several highlights with Bayern and has been capped 38 times for Germany. His current contract extends until 2026, which poses questions about his future as rumors swirl about him possibly leaving on a free transfer if he chooses not to renew his contract. Liverpool's hierarchy has reportedly made it known to Musiala's representatives of their firm interest, positioning themselves well for potential negotiations.

With key players like Kimmich, Sane, and Musiala drawing attention from Europe's elite clubs, the upcoming transfer window promises to be filled with intrigue as clubs scramble to navigate potentially game-changing acquisitions. For Bayern Munich, the prospect of losing such talent could not only impact their squad depth but redefine competition levels among the leading clubs across Europe.
