Officer Michael Horan, 44, tragically lost his life during an armed confrontation at a Food Lion grocery store in Greensboro, North Carolina, on December 23, 2023.

'He just made people laugh. He made people comfortable. You just wanted to be around him,' Lawrence told reporters. Horan also served proudly as part of the U.S. Coast Guard.
His bravery was evident even on vacation. While at Emerald Isle, North Carolina, with his family, Horan swam against treacherous rip currents to save a man and his son, showcasing his dedication to helping others at any cost.
