Tragic Christmas Day Stabbing Claims Two Lives

Milton Keynes community reeling after two women killed and two injured in suspected attack.

Milton Keynes was shaken on Christmas Day as a tragic stabbing incident left two women dead and two others seriously injured. The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. at a block of apartments on Santa Cruz Avenue, Bletchley, prompting immediate action from emergency services and the police.

Two victims, aged 38 and 24, were found at the scene and pronounced dead shortly after. A 49-year-old man from Milton Keynes has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder and is currently being held by the Thames Valley Police. The authorities have clarified the assailant and victims were known to each other, minimizing fears of wider public danger.

Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Brangwin, leading the investigation, expressed his condolences to the victims' families. “We have launched a double murder investigation which may be concerning to the wider public. We have made an arrest and are not looking for anyone else as the parties involved are known to each other,” Brangwin reassured.

The aftermath of the incident sparked shockwaves through the community. Shazna Muzammil, a Conservative councillor on Milton Keynes City Council, articulated her grief, stating, “This is horrible on Christmas Day and we are deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic events in Bletchley. Our thoughts are with the families, friends, and neighbours of the two women who have tragically lost their lives.”

Emergency crews arrived swiftly, treating the remaining victims—a teenage boy and a man in his late 20s—who were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Fortunately, both are now reported to be stable. Sadly, there was also loss of life for a dog injured during the incident.

The local scene around the apartments remains cordoned off, with forensic teams gathering evidence. Officers are seen documenting various locations, including the rooms where the stabbings occurred. This diligent work highlights the police's commitment to thoroughly investigating the incident.

Community support has blossomed as residents express their condolences. A family left flowers and a teddy bear dressed as Father Christmas at the police cordon, creating a poignant reminder of the humanity even amid tragedy. “This is a lovely area. You don’t expect to see this kind of thing here,” remarked one concerned bystander.

Local charity St Joseph’s Church has offered solace to the community by providing its school hall for those seeking quiet reflection. On Sunday, they welcomed residents for contemplation and prayers from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The heartbreaking nature of this incident on such a significant day has compounded the local grief. The police have reinforced their presence, assuring residents of their commitment to maintaining safety and order throughout the area.

Authorities are appealing to the public for any information or footage related to the incident. Detective Chief Inspector Brangwin urged, “Anyone with information is urged to call 101, quoting reference number 43240622935, or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
