Tragic Accident Claims Life Of Young Architect

Fernando Iraburu, 28, dies in traffic accident while traveling with friends

Fernando Iraburu Bonafé, a 28-year-old architect from Pamplona, tragically lost his life in a traffic accident on Sunday, April 13, 2025, in Villanueva de la Reina, Jaén. The accident occurred around 15:30 hours when the all-terrain vehicle he was traveling in with friends veered off the road, overturned, and ended up partially off the gravel track.

According to reports from the Guardia Civil, the vehicle was navigating a right-hand curve when it lost control, struck an embankment, and rolled over. While the other occupants of the vehicle escaped unharmed, Fernando was trapped inside and was ultimately extracted by his friends, who were unable to save him.

Emergency services, including firefighters from Andújar and officers from the Civil Guard, responded promptly to the scene after receiving a call about the incident. Despite their efforts, Fernando was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle underwent tests for alcohol and drugs, which returned negative results. Investigations are ongoing to determine the precise causes of the accident.

Fernando Iraburu was not just a promising architect; he was also a dedicated student and a beloved member of his family. He resided in Madrid, where he worked at an architecture studio and was in the process of preparing a doctoral thesis, driven by his passion for teaching and architecture. His family fondly recalls him as a generous, cheerful individual who was deeply committed to his loved ones.

As the eldest of nine siblings, Fernando was considered a role model by his family. They described him as someone who was always attentive and eager to make plans, embodying a remarkable capacity for love and selflessness. "He never held back—whether it was time, money, or enthusiasm; he gave everything he had," they reflected. His family emphasized that he was always smiling and striving to do things to the best of his ability, ready to help whenever needed.

In addition to his professional aspirations, Fernando was an avid sports enthusiast and a lover of culture. He enjoyed football, going to the gym, running, cycling, and swimming during the summer months. His family noted that he always preferred to share these activities with others, highlighting his love for camaraderie and connection.

Fernando's family, who also have strong ties to the Valencian Community, shared that he was a deeply religious person. "He prayed every day and leaned on God, trusting in His plans. Until the last moment of his life, he treated God in a very special way," they stated. They expressed their belief that he is now in heaven, waiting for them, and likened God to a gardener who tends to flowers, taking them at the right moment.

The sudden loss of Fernando Iraburu has left a profound impact on both his family and the wider community in Navarra. Friends and colleagues are mourning the loss of a vibrant individual who brought joy and inspiration to those around him. His passing has sparked an outpouring of condolences and tributes, reflecting the deep affection and respect many had for him.

As the investigation into the accident continues, the community remains in shock, grappling with the loss of a young life full of potential. Fernando's legacy as a dedicated architect, loving family member, and passionate individual will undoubtedly resonate with those who knew him.
