Trabzonspor Claims First Away Victory Against Başakşehir

The team finds success under new coach Fatih Tekke, ending 300-day win drought.

Trabzonspor achieved their first away victory of the season by defeating Başakşehir 3-0 on March 15, 2025, during the 28th week of the Trendyol Süper Lig. The match, held at Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium, marked a significant turn for the squad, who had not won away since May 18, 2024, when they last triumphed over the same team.

Under the management of new head coach Fatih Tekke, Trabzonspor came out aggressive, seeking to end their 300-day drought without away wins. The game's opening goal came as early as the 7th minute, when Simon Banza struck to put his team ahead. His early goal set the tone for the rest of the encounter.

Though Başakşehir had their chances, including an early shot by Krzysztof Piatek, which hit the woodwork, their fortunes changed drastically. Just as they seemed to be getting back on track, Piatek faced pressure and missed a penalty kick in the 59th minute, thwarted by Trabzonspor goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır. The missed opportunity proved to be pivotal.

Trabzonspor continued to capitalize on their momentum. Ozan Tufan sealed the game for the visitors with another goal at the 62nd minute, doubling their lead to 2-0. Following this, the atmosphere shifted dramatically when Başakşehir's Deniz Türüç received a red card for accumulating two yellow cards, leaving his team down to 10 players.

Adding insult to injury for the home side, Batista Mendy scored Trabzonspor's third goal late in the game, at the 87th minute, firmly sealing their win at 3-0. Mendy's goal was set up by Zubkov, showcasing Trabzonspor's effective offensive strategy.

The victory pushed Trabzonspor's points total to 35, marking their first win under Tekke's management. This match not only ended their long away winless streak but reestablished their competitive edge within the league. Meanwhile, Başakşehir remained at 36 points, having shown moments of promise but unable to convert opportunities.

Concluding the match analysis, Trabzonspor will look to build on this momentum as they prepare to host Göztepe next week. Meanwhile, Başakşehir is set to face Eyüpspor on their home turf, hoping to reclaim their form after this disappointing outing.
