A 21-year-old man from Essen, Germany, experienced the thrill of night sledding, but his adventure took a dangerous turn. On Saturday night, around 10:30 PM, he was sledding down the designated run near the Jausenstation Alpe Stalle, located within the municipality of St. Jakob in Defereggen. Seeking to navigate from Seefeld to Lottensee, this visitor inadvertently drove onto the B3 cross-country skiing trail. Reports indicate he relied heavily on his navigation system, which misled him onto the wrong path.
Authorities detailed how the American mistakenly traveled around 550 meters along the skiing track before he realized his error. To avoid colliding with oncoming skiers, he attempted to maneuver his vehicle off the trail but found himself bogged down in deep, unprepared snow.
The arrival of cross-country skiers alerted the Seefeld police to the unusual situation. The officers quickly organized to assist, employing specialized equipment to extricate the vehicle from the snow. No sooner had the American abandoned his trek than police confirmed: "The police managed to organize a snowplow to retrieve the car from the snow."
