Elite women cyclists prepare for thrilling competition in upcoming Tour de l'Orne and Tour de France stages.

The cycling world is abuzz as the Tour de l'Orne Femmes gears up for its exciting return on April 12 and 13, 2025. This prestigious event, organized by the Comité d’Organisation du Tour de l’Orne, will showcase the talents of elite female cyclists in a series of thrilling races.

Set to unfold over three stages, including an individual time trial, the Tour de l’Orne Feminin 2025 promises to deliver high-octane competition. The race will cater to both Elite and Open 1.2.3 women, marking it as a significant event in the cycling calendar. This year, the Tour de l'Orne serves as the second round of the Coupe De France Femmes N2, elevating its importance in the national cycling scene.

As the cyclists prepare for the challenge ahead, the anticipation is palpable. The event is not only a test of speed and endurance but also a platform for women in cycling to shine. With the backdrop of the beautiful French countryside, the participants will navigate through picturesque routes that will challenge their skills and determination.

Meanwhile, the excitement doesn’t end there. Just a few months later, on July 22, 2025, the Tour de France will make its way through Montpellier, heading towards the iconic Mont-Ventoux. This stage is particularly special as it marks the return of the Tour to Montpellier after a long hiatus of sixteen years.

The city of Montpellier revealed the exact route for the 16th stage during a ceremony held on April 12, 2025. The event was attended by the mayor of Montpellier and former professional cyclist Stéphane Goubert, who expressed his enthusiasm for the Tour's return. “It’s a moment of emotion; it’s always fabulous to see the Tour de France return to Montpellier for a legendary stage towards Mont-Ventoux!” Goubert stated, reflecting on his past experiences with the Tour.

On the day of the event, the fictitious start will occur at the Esplanade de l’Europe at 12:10 PM, with the caravan kicking off two hours earlier at 10:10 AM. The peloton will traverse several streets, including Avenue Jean-Mermoz and Rue Professeur Léon Vallois, before officially starting in Prades-le-Lez.

The mayor of Montpellier, Michaël Delafosse, expressed his satisfaction with the Tour's return, stating, “I wanted Montpellier to be a stage city again. It’s the most popular event in our country, broadcast worldwide!” His sentiments echo the city’s desire to showcase its vibrant culture and hospitality to the world.

As the Tour de France approaches, the excitement in Montpellier continues to build. The city is ready to welcome cycling fans and participants alike, with local businesses preparing to accommodate the influx of visitors. Delafosse encouraged the residents, saying, “I call on the people of Montpellier to come and cheer on the riders to give them strength.”

With the Tour de l'Orne Femmes and the Tour de France both on the horizon, cycling enthusiasts have much to look forward to. These events not only highlight the incredible talent within the sport but also bring communities together in celebration of cycling.

As the cyclists gear up for their respective races, the atmosphere is charged with anticipation. Will the competitors rise to the occasion and deliver performances that will be remembered for years to come? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: the cycling world is in for an exhilarating few months ahead.
