Toshinobu Kubota Launches New Music Program

The Special Show Features Star Guests and Unique Musical Sessions

Toshinobu Kubota, renowned as the "Japanese King of Soul," has launched his special program 'TOSHINOBU KUBOTA THE JAM,' which aired on December 14 and 21 on TV Stations. The program features the artist, who debuted back in 1986, showcasing his passion through unique musical interactions.

Kubota has enjoyed tremendous success, hitting the charts with major songs such as "流星のサドル" (Shooting Star Saddle), "Missing," "LA・LA・LA LOVE SONG," "Candy Rain," and "AHHHHH!" His extensive career paved the way for his significant influence not only within pop but also as he gained respect from R&B and hip-hop artists as well.

Throughout the show, Kubota takes on the amusing and relatable role of a part-time worker at various small businesses – including record shops, ice cream parlors, beauty salons, and jazz bars – amid friendly chaos and laughter. Entering this engaging program adds a fresh take on the music variety show format, incorporating jam sessions and interactions with accomplished guests like STUTS, AI, Daichi Miura, and Tsuyoshi Domoto.

The program's premise begins with the narration stating, "東京のとある通りに、ブラックミュージックを愛するオーナーが経営する、労働環境もちょっとブラックな4つのお店が......" (On a certain street in Tokyo, there are four shops with somewhat black work environments operated by owners who love black music).

During the course of the first episode, Kubota interacts with YURI, MARU, and YUHO, who form the background vocals at the ice cream shop. When AI arrives unexpectedly, the atmosphere becomes lively and energetic. Their dialogue reveals the connection between the artists as they chat and the collaboration they eventually undertake. AI goes on to perform her hit song "Story," prompting Kubota to suggest performing together.

Transitioning to the jazz bar for more musical expression, Kubota and AI create magic through their rendition of Bill Withers' "Lean on Me". The vibrant performance showcases not just Kubota’s voice but also the synergy they share, leading to electrifying moments for the audience.

Following his successful jam with AI, Kubota then visits the beauty parlor, where he encounters Daichi Miura. This meeting dramatically ignites discussions about each other's musical influences, leading to another jam session where both artists revel in their connection over their passion for black music, particularly their shared admiration for Michael Jackson.

Through visual storytelling and catchy tunes, the chemistry between Kubota and Miura culminates as they perform "流星のサドル" (Shooting Star Saddle) at the jazz bar, combining elements of dance and soul; it’s evident their friendship adds depth to the heartfelt performance as they experience the fusion of music.

Another aspect of the show keeps audiences curious, as Kubota meets Tsuyoshi Domoto, who shares some fun banter about Kubota's previous experiences and the collaborative creativity they can bring to the jazz bar stage. Their session of "FUNK TRON" ensures the excitement continues, as the rhythm intensifies, and the audience is drawn to the unique fusion of their styles.

Lastly, Kubota’s encounter with producer STUTS leads the show to explore refreshing takes on classic tunes, particularly "Candy Rain" – this revamp, with new beats and rhythmic layers, adds polish to the long-loved hit.

While each segment adds various layers to the narrative, the encounters underlined by laughter and mutual respect give the show its character. 'TOSHINOBU KUBOTA THE JAM' emerges as not just another music program, but as heartfelt artistic explorations set against the backdrop of urban Tokyo, captivating viewers with its engaging concept.

Finally, interested fans can catch the second episode airing on December 21, which promises to spotlight even more exhilarating interactions and performances. To satisfy the craving for more, TELASA provides additional withholding segments and exclusive content, ensuring the audience doesn’t miss out on the show's vibrant offerings.
