Tobu Railway Teams Up With Anime Zatsu Tabi For Unique Travel Experience

Fans can embark on a journey through Japan with interactive events and exclusive merchandise this spring.

Tobu Railway has announced an exciting collaboration with the highly anticipated TV anime Zatsu Tabi-That’s Journey-, set to premiere in April 2025. This partnership aims to create a series of interactive travel experiences that invite fans of the anime to explore beautiful Japanese destinations.

From March 27 to June 26, 2025, Tobu Railway will host the event Tobu Zatsu Tabi: New Scenery, Maybe There’s Still More. Passengers can participate by purchasing a special leaflet available at 29 stations, which includes an original clear file as a bonus. This leaflet will select random destinations for travel adventures, including popular spots such as Nishi-Koizumi, Shin-Kashiwa, Tochigi, and Ogawamachi.

The cost of this leaflet is set at 500 yen, separate from the train fare, with only 700 copies available for each destination, making a total of 2,800 leaflets. Fans can also collect stickers at each of the destinations, adding to the excitement of their travels. The limited-edition goods, such as original tote bags, hot spring towels, and ticket holders, will be sold on the company's online store, TOBU MALL, for 3,000 yen (excluding shipping).

In addition to the Tobu Railway event, JR East Japan will run its own related initiative from March 23 to June 30, 2025. This will feature a digital stamp rally titled 'Zatsu Tabi' x JR East Japan Stage Pilgrimage Ekipass Stamp Rally, at 14 key stations across its network including Tokyo, Ueno, and Sendai. Travelers can collect stamps by visiting these stations, enhancing their adventure linked to the anime.

The initiative underscores a growing trend of collaborations between the anime industry and transportation sectors, effectively promoting local tourism while appealing to devoted fans. As travel experiences become increasingly intertwined with popular culture, such projects not only enrich the viewer’s experience but also contribute to local economies.

According to reports from GIGAZINE, “Launch of collaborative projects like this not only enriches the viewing experience but also encourages tourism and exploration through travel.” Such ventures offer new avenues for fans of content to interact with the worlds they adore, turning passive viewing into active engagement.

The synergy between Tobu Railway and JR East Japan reflects a broader recognition within the tourism industry of the potential to capture the interests of younger audiences through innovative marketing strategies that leverage popular media.

Anime has emerged as a significant aspect of contemporary Japanese culture and identity. With thousands of fans traveling both domestically and internationally to experience the settings seen in their favorite series, rail companies have begun to take notice.

Events like Tobu Zatsu Tabi not only create memorable experiences but also cultivate loyalty among fans who feel connected to their entertainment. Ultimately, the combination of travel and anime enhances the narrative and experience of both.

As the events approach, excitement builds among fans who eagerly await an opportunity to hop on a train and explore a world that springs from the screen to real life. The collaboration between anime and tourism sets the stage for what could become a staple of traveling culture in Japan.

This upcoming event not only highlights Tobu Railway's dedication to innovative engagement but also signals a significant turn in how cultural phenomena can influence travel patterns and spur local economies.
