Tiger Woods Returns As Cover Athlete For PGA TOUR 2K25

Celebrated golfer highlights the upcoming release of the new video game featuring legendary sports stars.

Tiger Woods has been officially named the cover athlete for the upcoming PGA TOUR 2K25's Legend Edition, continuing his legacy as one of golf's most iconic figures. Announced on Monday through various social media platforms, this marks the second consecutive game cover for Woods, who also graced the cover of PGA TOUR 2K23.

At 49 years old, Woods's presence on the cover serves as a fitting tribute to his extensive achievements, including 15 major championships and 82 PGA Tour victories. These accolades have undoubtedly secured his status as a legend within the sport. Alongside Woods, six-time PGA Tour winner Max Homa and former U.S. Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick will share honors on the cover of the game’s Deluxe Edition, showcasing the importance of contemporary talents alongside those of the past.

Woods's involvement with the PGA TOUR 2K franchise began with his signing of a long-term partnership with 2K Sports back in March 2021. This agreement granted 2K exclusive rights to use Woods's name and likeness across the PGA TOUR 2K series and any other golf games published by the company during the term of the partnership. "I am looking forward to making my return to the video game Landscape, and with 2K and HB Studios, I’ve found the right partners to make it happen," Woods stated at the time.

The announcement also brings attention to the broader roster of playable characters within PGA TOUR 2K25, though the complete list has yet to be unveiled. Previous games included multiple golf icons, such as Xander Schauffele, Rickie Fowler, and world No. 1 Nelly Korda, among others. This makes the forthcoming game highly anticipated among golf gaming fans, eager to see who will join Woods, Homa, and Fitzpatrick on the dynamic virtual course.

Interestingly, this isn’t Woods's first foray on video game covers. From 1999 to 2013, he headlined his own series with EA Sports, and he has made multiple appearances across various titles throughout the years. EA Sports featured Rory McIlroy on its cover for its last title before it exited the golf gaming space for eight years. During its return, the 2023 edition did not designate a cover athlete but did provide players access to renowned golf courses, namely Augusta National.

Despite his health challenges, which recently included six surgeries affecting his back, Woods’s stature remains undiminished. He recently shared the field with his son at the PNC Championship Pro-Am, marking his return to competitive play after the 2023 Open Championship at Royal Troon Golf Club last July. Today, Woods continues to capture the attention of fans and golf enthusiasts alike as he embarks on new endeavors, including launching his TGL simulator golf league on ESPN, slated for his playing debut this week.

The combination of Woods’s legendary status and the excitement surrounding PGA TOUR 2K25 has generated considerable buzz within the golfing and gaming communities. Whether through his continued impact on the sport or his dynamic presence on gaming platforms, Woods continues to inspire and engage audiences across various mediums. The release date and additional features of this latest installment are still pending announcement, but one thing is for sure: Tiger Woods’s influence on golf—and now video games—remains as strong as ever.

With Woods gracing yet another cover, fans are eager to see how the PGA TOUR 2K25 will continue to honor the legacy of golf's greatest players, and Woods's return signals exciting developments for both the franchise and the sport as it evolves to keep pace with changing times and technologies.
