Three Kings Day Cavalcade Set To Dazzle Barcelona

The annual event brings joy and magic to the city's streets as the Kings arrive with gifts and celebrations.

The Three Kings Day Cavalcade is set to light up the streets of Barcelona on January 5, 2025, promising to fill the city with joy and magic, especially among the young ones eagerly awaiting gifts. This annual event, one of the most cherished festivities of the Christmas season, will kick off starting at 16:30 hours when Kings Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthazar arrive at the Portal de la Pau aboard the traditional vessel, Santa Eulàlia.

Upon their arrival, the Kings will be warmly welcomed by Barcelona's mayor, who will conduct the time-honored custom of offering bread and salt. This gesture not only marks the official greeting but also symbolizes the granting of keys to the city, enabling the Kings to enter every home across Barcelona and leave gifts for deserving children. "This gesture symbolizes the authorization for Their Majesties to enter all the homes of Barcelona and leave their gifts," reported Telenotícies.

The eagerly awaited Cavalcade will commence at 18:00 hours, weaving through Barcelona’s neighborhoods filled with music, colors, and festive spirit. Starting from the Avinguda del Marquès de l'Argentera, the procession will make its way toward several key locations, including the Paseo Colom around 18:15, the Avinguda del Paral·lel around 19:10, and continue through Ronda de Sant Pau at 19:45 before finally arriving at Plaça Espanya at approximately 20:45 hours. The event will culminate at Avenida Reina María Cristina at about 21:15 hours, making for a vibrant and memorable evening.

Accompanying the Kings are their helpers—Paje Gregori, Paje Estel, and Paje Omar—as well as many other performers, all adding to the festival's charm. Each float will be adorned with creative displays and Rio de Janeiro-style performances, ensuring it is not only visually captivating but also entertaining for audiences of all ages. "The Cabalgata promises to be, as always, an unforgettable spectacle," emphasized organizers.

Accessibility remains key to this event, making it open to all. No capacity restrictions will be enforced, and designated areas will be made available for individuals with disabilities who hold valid identification cards, ensuring everyone can partake comfortably in the festivities.

After the parade, viewers can enjoy the magic of the Three Kings from the comfort of their homes, as the celebratory event will be broadcast live on TV3 starting at 19:20 hours. This special program, titled Nit de Reis, has become a staple for families to gather round and partake virtually, continuing the tradition of family engagement across generations.

The 2025 Three Kings Day Cavalcade promises to be yet another exquisite evening for the residents of Barcelona, encapsulating the spirit of celebration, unity, and joy. With light, music, and wonder filling the air, this event is set to create lasting memories for everyone involved.
