The Wheel Of Time Season 3 Finale Shifts Power Dynamics

Major character arcs conclude as Rand embraces his destiny amid betrayals and alliances.

The Wheel of Time Season 3 finale aired on Prime Video, concluding with a thunderous clash of fates, choices, and betrayals. As threads of prophecy tightened around Rand and his allies, old loyalties were tested, and new alliances forged in fire. The finale didn’t just end a chapter—it shifted the very balance of power in the world.

The penultimate episode of the Prime Video series saw Perrin and co. leading the Two Rivers to victory against Trollocs and the Dark Friend, Padan Fain. It showcased how much brutality takes place on a battlefield. On the other hand, it also showed how there's still hope in this world and why people like Perrin and Loial are important. But the finale is different and features some really shocking narratives coming forward. So, let's take a look at what happened in The Wheel of Time Season 3 finale.

After many episodes of building to his ascent, the finale delivers an ending to Rand's quest to become recognized as the Aiel's Car'a'carn. This is compounded by the ongoing storylines of his companions, with Moiraine and Egwene taking center stage as he begins to prove his power. The finale is packed with significant moments, including Rand grappling with the One Power in the Aiel Waste while his affair with Lanfear has been revealed.

Moiraine, played by Rosamund Pike, fears Lanfear due to visions in Rhuidean. Meanwhile, Nynaeve and Elayne seek the Seanchan collar in Tanchico, while Mat deals with Min's visions of his death. Siuan faces a coup in the White Tower led by Elaida, who seeks to undermine her authority.

The episode starts with a flashback sequence 10 years ago in Tar Valon. During this flashback, Elaida is seen asking for the White Ajahs to support her so that she could be at the Amyrlin Seat. The voting began, and it seemed like Siuan was going to lose the election. However, the White Ajahs announce their support for Siuan, and as soon as they do that, the other Ajahs also announce their support. In the end, Siuan wins it.

In the present day, Siuan has declared support for the Dragon Reborn and wants other Aes Sedai to support her decision as well. However, Elaida is trying hard to garner support, pass a resolution against Siuan, and capture the Dragon Reborn. Siuan gets to know that some of the Aes Sedai have left the tower, which would hurt her chances of winning the vote. So, she orders some of her allies to follow them and bring them back.

Meanwhile, Moiraine meets Sammael, who has been captured, and tells him he will teach Rand about war strategies or be buried. Rand meets Lanfear in her dreams and confronts her about her allegiance to the Dark One. Rand tells Lanfear he is leaving her because he has finally seen her true nature and how monstrous she really is. Just then, Egwene enters the dream and helps push Lanfear out completely.

As the episode progresses, Liandrin secures the Seanchan bracelet with Moghedien's help. Nynaeve and Mat trail the Black Ajah to the Panarch's Palace to grab the collar. Thom reminisces about Caemlyn and suspects Lord Gaebril, who Elayne believes has been by her mother's side for a long time. However, Thom reveals that Gaebril is actually the Forsaken Rahvin, indicating that Elayne's mother is in grave danger.

During the confrontation, Elayne blasts Jeaine with balefire, showcasing her newfound abilities. Meanwhile, Mat inadvertently passes through a red gate to another dimension ruled by the Eelfinn, creatures that can grant wishes but at a terrible cost. He asks the Eelfinn to fix him and to get out of this place, but the Eelfinn warns him that they haven't set the price for the fulfillment of this deal.

As Mat returns to the building, he finds himself hanging from a noose, fulfilling Min’s vision. Fortunately, Min manages to revive him, but he now sports a shiny new fox medallion around his neck. Nynaeve, on the other hand, encounters Liandrin, who uses her powers to chain Nynaeve and throw her into the water. However, Nynaeve taps into the One Power to break free and walk ashore unscathed.

In the Aiel Waste, Rand is busy meeting his toh by harvesting Alsera's garden when Egwene finds him. The mood is distinctly awkward between them now, but Egwene's not here for her own reasons; she's been sent to collect Rand and bring him to the Wise Ones. It turns out Sammael survived his little brush with a rockslide in Cold Rocks Hold, but now he’s being held captive by Moiraine, who plans to have him train Rand.

As the episode progresses, Rand confronts Lanfear, who admits that she was making Egwene stronger, trying to frame her torture as a favor. However, Rand pushes her away, declaring, "You're jealous, and petty, and just cruel." The confrontation culminates in a battle between Moiraine and Lanfear, where Moiraine, motivated by the death of her beloved Siuan, gains the upper hand.

In a tragic turn of events, Siuan is declared a Darkfriend and sentenced to be stilled for her crimes. When Leane tries to fight the ruling, she is shielded by Alviarin and the other Sitters. The One Power is ripped from Siuan's body, leaving her numbed and collapsed on the ground before Elaida orders her to be dragged away for questioning.

The episode concludes with Rand channeling powerfully enough to summon a rainstorm, a display that cannot be ignored by the Aiel clans. The Aiel kneel, and across the world, the sky darkens. Meanwhile, Elaida is already hard at work redecorating the Amyrlin Seat's quarters, while Moghedien senses Rand's power.

As the episode ends, Egwene begs Rand to let go of his grip on the One Power, but he simply stares back at her, expression inscrutable, before the episode cuts to black. The Wheel of Time Season 3 has been incredible for fans of the series, and the season finale has left fans with a lot to look forward to and look back on.
