Fans of the franchise have eagerly awaited this moment, especially given the popularity of the original title. The remastered version promises improved graphics and performance, alongside new gameplay modes, including the much-talked-about No Return mode.

In No Return, players can choose from one of ten characters, each with unique attributes and play styles, to navigate through a series of maps that culminate in boss fights. The gameplay is designed to be challenging, as players will face randomized challenges and must restart upon death, adding to the roguelike survival experience.

Moreover, the upcoming PC version will introduce two new playable characters—Bill and Marlene—along with four additional maps: Overlook, School, Streets, and Nest. These new characters and maps will also be available to PS5 players with a 2.0.0 patch released on the same day.

For those who enjoy a more relaxed gaming experience, the PC release will feature a Guitar Free Play mode. In this mode, players can select Joel, Ellie, or composer Gustavo Santaolalla and jam on various string instruments, including a guitar, banjo, or steel resonator, complete with FX pedals.

From a technical standpoint, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered has been optimized for Windows PCs. Requirements include support for Nvidia DLSS 3 Super Resolution, AMD FSR 3.1 and 4, VSync, and DirectStorage. The game will also support ultrawide monitors with an aspect ratio of up to 48:9 and triple-monitor setups, catering to a variety of gaming preferences.

Additionally, players can expect customizable settings for texture quality, rendering distance, volumetric quality, shadow quality, reflections quality, and ambient occlusion. The PC version will also support keyboard and mouse controls with full remapping, as well as an adaptive mode that allows players to mix controller use with keyboard and mouse controls.

Another exciting aspect of the PC version is the integration with PlayStation Network. While not mandatory, logging into PSN will grant players access to the PlayStation overlay and trophies. Players who log in will receive 50 in-game points to spend on bonus features, along with a new skin for Ellie, featuring Jordan’s jacket from the upcoming release Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
