The Chosen Season 5 Prepares For Theatrical Release

Fans can expect massive moments as the season debuts with unique theatrical engagement before streaming

The highly anticipated Season 5 of "The Chosen" will make its return to screens with something fans have been clamoring for: theatrical releases. This next season, officially dubbed "The Chosen: Last Supper," is set to hit theaters before making its streaming debut, continuing the unique distribution approach established by the series.

Scheduled for release just before Easter 2025, the show will kick off with its theatrical launch starting on March 27. The first two episodes will premiere as part of Part 1 of the season, with subsequent parts rolling out over the following weeks. This strategy resonates well with devotees of the series, who are used to its extensive release model combining theatrical, streaming, and app-based formats.

5&2 Studios, the newly formed production company behind the hit series, announced international expansion efforts as well, with plans to grow beyond the North American market. Season 5 will be distributed across various countries, including Brazil, Mexico, and parts of Europe, starting on April 10, 2025. The distribution will be handled by Fathom Events and Trafalgar Releasing, two key players known for executing successful theatrical rollouts.

"The Chosen: Last Supper" will comprise eight episodes, released over three segments. This season's logline paints quite the dramatic picture: it depicts the festive atmosphere of the Passover meal; the community of Israel excitedly welcomes Jesus as their king, but drama brews beneath the surface as political and religious leaders threaten to intervene. The season promises high stakes as tensions rise during the iconic meal.

Dallas Jenkins, the series' creator and executive producer, expressed his excitement about this new season, stating, "I’m possibly more excited to bring Season 5 to the world than any other season we’ve done. Unfortunately, it’s not coming until March, but I’m so thrilled to show this first glimpse of it with the poster and the teaser and for our fans." Jenkins has made it his mission to expand the "The Chosen" universe, hinting at future projects, including animated series and other exciting spin-offs.

With the popularity of the series, Jenkins began 5&2 Studios to facilitate broader content production, allowing for more storytelling avenues related to religious narratives. Upcoming projects include offerings like "The Chosen Adventures" aimed at younger audiences and collaborative ventures like "The Chosen in the Wild," set to feature Bear Grylls.

The next seasons of "The Chosen" also expand on the original story arcs, with Season 6 focused on the Crucifixion and Season 7 emphasizing the Resurrection, both promising global theatrical releases for their special episodes, ensuring this series stays prominent on both theatrical and streaming platforms.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the release, and with promises of deep dives and theological explorations, "The Chosen: Last Supper" is set to captivate both returning viewers and newcomers alike when it breaks ground next spring.
