Thailand National Football Teams Gear Up For Key Matches

The senior and U17 teams face crucial qualifiers in the Asian Cup 2027 and AFC U-17 Championship.

In an exciting buildup to the Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers, the Thailand national football team prepares to face Sri Lanka on March 25, 2025, at the Rajamangala National Stadium. With kickoff set for 7:30 PM and broadcasted live on True Sports 2, players are expressing confidence in their ability to secure a win and progress in the tournament.

Supanutta Leamtae, a forward for the Thai national team, emphasized the team's readiness and commitment to achieving victory. “Everyone is ready for tomorrow's game. We have to win and aim not to concede goals because goal difference matters,” Supanutta stated. He noted the importance of studying their opponents, stating that Sri Lanka has brought in several naturalized players, suggesting they may present more of a challenge than in previous encounters.

Moreover, Leamtae conveyed a strong belief in the team's dynamics, saying, “I think this is a good squad. There's a great mix, and everyone is amicable, making relationships both on and off the field very good.” He invited fans to come and support the team, emphasizing, “I don’t want to be seen as the hope of the national team. Everyone contributes, and we all play for the national team.”

For the U17 national squad, preparation is also in full swing ahead of their upcoming commitments. Theerawekin Ratthawaphat, a forward from the U17 national team, noted, “Training with the team is going well, but we still need adjustments to improve our teamwork and playing form.” This preparation comes as they gear up for a critical friendly match against Qatar before heading off to the AFC U-17 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia.

The U17 matches in Saudi Arabia will see Thailand compete against challenging teams. They will face Uzbekistan on April 3, followed by encounters with Saudi Arabia and China. “Our target for the Asian Championship is to reach the World Cup,” Theerawekin affirmed, urging fans to rally behind the team. He reiterated their determination, stating, “We will do our best and bring victory and pride to all Thai fans.”

The team has been in Qatar for training and has cited the weather as a significant adjustment factor, but they are adapting well. “In the beginning, it was tough due to the cold weather and the time difference from Thailand, but we are gradually getting used to it,” Theerawekin explained.

As both squads prepare for their respective challenges, the anticipation and excitement within Thailand’s football community continue to build. Fans and supporters eagerly await what promises to be an exhilarating period in Thai football as both the senior and U17 teams strive toward success in their upcoming matches.
