The SAT Futsal Championship Thailand 2025 kicked off with an intense match on April 9, 2025, at Terminal Hall, Central Department Store, Terminal 21 Korat, where the Thai national futsal team faced off against the Russian national team. Ranked 11th in the world, Thailand was eager to prove their mettle against the 8th ranked Russians. In their opening game, Thailand had secured a thrilling 4-3 victory over Kuwait, setting the stage for this highly anticipated clash.

The team was ready to capitalize on their recent success, but they faced a formidable opponent in Russia.

The match began with Thailand showing aggressive intent, creating several chances early on. However, it was Russia who struck first, with Sergey Denisov scoring in the 5th minute to give them a 1-0 lead. This setback did not deter the Thai players; just a minute later, they equalized when Athipong Munphlai found the back of the net, leveling the score at 1-1.

Despite Thailand's strong performance, the second half saw Russia ramp up their offensive efforts. The Thai defense held firm for much of the period, but as the clock wound down, the pressure intensified. In a dramatic turn of events, Russian coach Besik Soidze called a timeout with just three minutes remaining, a decision that would prove pivotal.

Following the timeout, Russia equalized in the 37th minute with a goal from Anton Socholoff, catching the Thai defense off guard. Just a minute later, Yanar Asadov scored the winning goal for Russia, turning the match on its head and putting them ahead 3-2.
